I spent some time yesterday evening looking through Don Troiani's book to check one or two things. DT is about the best at depicting ACW uniforms accurately, both for colour and style, so I tend to refer to him if I'm doing an ACW subject. Several points came out of this, primarily I re-visited the collar and cuff colour as my first attempt is too light a blue. I also noted that the frock coat for Confederate officers often had the edge of the closure piped in the arm of service colour. I couldn't find anything mentioning a blue lining to the cape-coat either. All DT's depictions show it as grey lining.
So, today I repainted the collar and cuffs, and also got the waistbelt and holster, and the right arm braiding finished. Here's the result:
Not much left to do now, just the overcoat and hands. The sword blade is quite warped but it should respond to hot water. If not I'll fettle one up from brass strip.
