Hello to everyone,

I am looking for uniform reference for the Continental Light Dragoon (kit from Michael Roberts).

The only reference I have found is : Uniforms of the American Revolution

Would anyone know of other sites ?

Thank you

Best regards

Bertrand

Here is an online site. There are a few dragoon units with websites.

The Horse Soldier 1776-1943
Volume 1 The Revolution, The War of 1812, The Early Frontier 1776-1850
By Randy Steffen
University of Oklahoma Press

This is an excellent book with hundreds of line drawings on uniforms weapons and equipment.

The following Osprey titles are also very good and provide details on infantry, cavalry, and artillery units.

Men-At-Arms Series

#273 General Washington's Army 1:1775-1778

#290 General Washington's Army 2:1779-1783

Troiani's book "Soldiers in America" has a plate of a Continental Light Dragoon from the same Regt. that the kit represents. You might also check "The United States Cavalry" by Gregory Erwin for other uniform references.

I ordered The Horse Soldier 1776-1943 Volume 1 after I read Gary's post. I agree that it is a fantastic reference. It's exactly what I've been wanting. I accidentally ordered 2 of them, however. Don't ask me how that happened. I guess I had a few too many Heinekens?

If anyone would like to buy my extra copy, let me know. It's a brand new, shrinkwrapped paperback. I will sell it at my cost ($25) + $2 for media mail shipping in the US. I will send to other countries at postage cost. Money order or paypal for US residents. Will discuss payment options with others.
