i just purchased the coppergate bust from wee friends, advertised in 1/6th scale. when it arrived it looks more 1/16th scale. I bought this bust for my friend a few years ago and it was a lot larger and better detailed. what was the scale of the original? / badger

Quite surprised about this badger. I'm pretty familiar with this bust and whilst I agree it doesn't scale to 1/6th I've never seen it as a 1/16th which is about the size of your thumbnail, perhaps a 1/9th or 10th? Below is Davie Mitchells box art.

The only really large bust of the Coppergate Saxon was Fort Royal Reviews 1/4th scale. This one shows it beside a £1 coin.

Usually 1/16th mini busts are cut down from full figures and if Wee Friends have done a full figure in 1/16th it'll fly off the shelves.
Cheers

I remember these busts in the day, they were the results of a collaboration between David Gerrett and Pete Moreton. I think that the 200mm and the larger bust were aimed at the giftmarket and produced in bronzed resin, though available in resin to the model market. They were sold in the Yorvic centre in York. There is a 120mm full figure of the Coppergate Saxon, and presume the smaller bust has been engineered from that.

All the best,

Rob

yes,my mistake,i thought the bust I bought my friend was larger, but he showed me it and its the same size as the wee friends one which I have just bought, and excellent it is. sorry for my stupid comment about size, etc. getting old./badger

You'll really enjoy painting it, if anything the sculpt of the hair is better than the FRR version.
David's photos on his bench give a great reference source.
