After several days away from the workbench due to sickness and other stuff I had a quick session on the figure.

Now only the steel parts left unpainted, with those and some final touch-ups this should be done and I can start to work on the horse.

Very nice indeed, the mood/atmosphere you have created in the paint work is out standing, the mail just adds to the effect.

This is going to be a stunner, loving the flesh tones.
The muted reds on the surcoat works really well.
I really wish I could achieve a finish like this.

Looking even better with the head on , this version is really interesting to see the contrast between the red and the armour works well

Again, longer period away from the bench, the heat these days isn't really suitable for painting with acrylics... Started the shield, inspired by a late medieval art on Divina Commedia. Obviously has some spots to be corrected in order to achieve some kind of symmetry. This is a good learning experience for me in the free hand world.

You're right the warmer weather makes it harder to work in acrylics.
Great start on the shield, it going to look very effective.
