I had a frightful experience on EBay a few months back and it's not EBay's fault.

I was selling a number of kits. All went well except for one and it was sent without tracking. Three days after posting the buyer enquiried as to where his item was. I said it needs more time for delivery. Over the next few days he contacted me everyday and I reassured him if it did not turn up I would refund his money . A week after purchase he opens a dispute despite my promises which put my Paypal account into debit until the case was resolved. Despite me saying the parcel needed a little more time he became threatening. I gave him a voluntary refund eight days after posting and thought that would be the end of the matter. The post office says ten business days until it is lost. I'd never been bothered so much by a buyer and I have had things go missing before.

A week later he demanded feedback, and this is from someone who hides his feedback, I said I did not feel I can as he had been abusive and rude to be. He then became more abusive.

Three weeks later his parcel turned up at my place. He did not collect it from the sorting office . So I readvertise and the abuse and threats start again. I'm a low life, con man and thief apparently!

He went quiet after I referred the matter to Ebay.

Throughout this experience I managed not to be abusive or rude to him in any way. He lives in a very expensive apartment block in a city I might add.

Luckily I got my kit back and just received a negative feedback.

He's now blocked from my account.

Anybody else has a bad experience like this?

To be honest I would rather sell my Grey Army on here at heavily discounted prices than the stress of Ebay. On here you know pretty much know who you are dealing with and my experience has been nothing but positive. Reducing your kits to account for what you are going to pay Ebay and Paypal in fees means everyone wins.

To be honest I have stopped using e-bay as a selling platform for business, I sent out 12 items sold on e-bay from my local post office a couple of years back, none were signed for and out of the 12 I had 4 people claim they did not receive the item.
Now out of all the 6+ years I have sold items direct from my website I have only ever had 2 cases of someone claiming the item did not arrive. I am afraid e-bay is full of chancers and scammers and will take every opportunity to get something for free. I know there are a lot of honest buyers on e-bay but there are also a lot who are not.

Cheers

Just to confirm Paul your situation was not one of the two I was referring to, In your case the parcel did come back to me and it was an error put down to the postman.
I had a couple of lost parcels that never turned up with the customer or back to me as I always put a return address in case of error in delivery. I have never had reason to doubt any of my customers who I deal directly with and it has been a pleasure to do business with every one of them, all of whom have been entirely honest.

All the best
Steve
