Inspired by the over of a book this is likely to be the next release from Sarnina Miniatures - assuming I get the sculpting right!!

Here is the first stage of the sculpting - still a long way to go, especially the face which needs some refinement

Hi Peter

nice to see the next from Sarnia and a good subject , comng along nicely .......the focus is both the face and the chain on the armour I feel

Will you be adding a arm with the armour style

Following with interest

Nap

Hi Nap

Glad you like it. It is unlikely that I will add an arm. It is tempting but it would start to change it from a bust to a half-figure, I know tha I have included arm on some bust, but /i have done so where they are important to 'tell the story' of the bust - as with my shouting ecw pikeman. Having his had by his face accentuated the fact he was shouting.

Hi Peter

Good points raised there , just thought the armour style would add more ....but which ever looking forward to seeing this progress

At last the finish line is in sight. Here are a couple of photos of the first casting:

I think it should be fun to paint, I have tried to include as many different textures as possible: obviously flesh and hair, felt hat, chainmail, steel, rich velvety cloth with embroidered details, fur collar and a little cotton shirt collar. Painting a slightly over-weight face may also be a little out of the ordinary.

It will be available from Sarnia Miniatures (www.sarnia-miniatures.com) soon.

Hi Peter

Well done on seeing the finishing line ...a different subject and I like the facial features , lots of textures as you say to paint and adding another period of history to Sarnia .

I presume Peter Day will be painting the boxart ...look forward to seeing what he does with the material pattern and he fleshwork

Thanks for sharing

Nap

Hi Nap - yes Peter will be painting the box art, but i will also continue this thread with my own attempt at painting it.

Great subject and high level sculpting.Although it is missing something in order to make it to my stash....what could that be...what could that be.......oh it's legs:D.

Oda.

Hi guys

Oda - thanks you for the compliment - you shouldn't worry about legs, all the character is in the face, I am a happier modeller since I stopped painting legs and focussed on busts! :)

Olva - thank you.

Peter
