Here's the first steps of a new diorama project I'm working on. It's primarily using the Tommy's War set which was inspired by John Singer Sargent's famous "Gassed" painting. Here's an extract:

The Tommy's War set consists of 6 figures inspired by the above painting. However, rather oddly there is no medic in the set, so the first figure is rather blindly leading the other blinded men. So I decided to add the Tommy's War "Walking Wounded" set which has a medic assisting a wounded man. I simply added some bandages around the eyes of the wounded man and adapted the leading figure of the Gassed set so he is holding on to the medic.

So here's where I am so far:

I've cleaned up, assembled and filled the figures ready for priming. They are only roughly placed on a piece of foam, they will connect up much better in the actual diorama.

For the diorama I am going to have them walking along a corduroy road surrounded by the devastation of the Western Front, something like this:

This area was rather aptly named "Idiot Corner".......

Hi Nigel

A very moving image to model

Following this closely Nigel , hope you’ve got lots of khaki paint !

Agree with Neil’s comment ...easy enough to add the figure with his leg up ........

We can only imagine the thoughts going through the soldiers

Looking forward to seeing more

Happy benchtime

Thanks Malc, Simon, Neil and Nap. In my mind this will be amazing, let's hope it works out that way. There will be quite a lot of groundwork and resin pouring, so many opportunities to screw it up along the way.....

You know me Kev, khaki is the one colour I have a LOT of!

Oh yes brilliant! I was always disappointed that the set doesn't include the man with his leg raised which clearly shows that he's blind.
Just saying....:angelic:

Don't put ideas into my head....... If I were doing this as a standalone group I might do that. However, they will be part of a larger diorama and the change would not really be noticeable. I have a lot to do, so I need to crack on......

It´s a great kit from Tommys War. I made it some time ago and I´m so satisfied !!
Yes, I saw your version of this on FaceBook a while back, very nice. I'm glad you posted your picture because I realise I forgot to add the braces to the figure in shirtsleeves! I shall break out the green stuff now.....

I look forward to seeing the final product. My great great uncle was gassed in WW1. It was mustard and he was sent to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio Texas for treatment. My grandfather would tell the story from time to time.
