A bit of an update on the foot artillery gunner which I’ve been working on for the last few evenings. There’s still lots of tidying up to do and the legs, gaiters and coat tails still need quite a lot of work, but good progress.

Oh that's rather remiss of me I totally missed this update, D'Ho! Coming along really well but with the amount of work you've put into it that's no surprise.

Out of interest which is better for you, remaking a Historex kit or going the whole hog yourself and scratch building?

Cheers Simon

After a chest infection, getting my phone nicked in London (major stress and shame re: addiction to phone) and having to build a Spitfire for a friend's, Dad's birthday I've finally made it back to my figure projects and - after a couple of abortive attempts to sign in and workout the new update - this forum (yippee etc.)

The scratch built Imperial Guard gunner, which I thought was nearly finished (ha ha ha etc.) turned out to be a much longer project than I anticipated - but very enjoyable nonetheless. Everything is now more or less in place but there's still quite a bit of remodelling and general finishing still to do.
I still haven't quite worked out quite how to post pics - I hope that will do?

That is a very good question Simon and one I've been pondering. I think the answer is, rebuilding Historex kits. I'm just a plastic modeller really, I like the whole process of buying a kit and starting with a bunch of parts and building something out of them. For me, Historex is the only company that allows for loads of creativity yet you still start with a kit; getting a bunch of parts in a bubble envelope from Dover is just *much* more exciting that buying two tins of MagicSculpt. I made the artillery man out of curiosity really to see if I could make a figure from scratch and I may do more but in general I think it's Historex or bust for me. 😊👍
