Zast.C, thanx much, sir.

Anthony, the DarkStar bronze was very smooth... 3 thinned down coats, no brush marks. I have the Gold I, Silver, Steel and Metals sets and I'm dying to give a shot with each of them.

Keith, the overall casting of this figure is first rate... right down to the hateful diamonds on the collar and cuff lace

Roger, the pose and attitude of this figure is a great representation of the Guard Grenadier's contribution to this campaign... laidback and relaxed between fruitless marches. Come to the round side Rog... give Ian a call and I'm sure he'll be happy to hook you up ;) (Ian, don't forget my finder's fee :sneaky:)

Not to worry Daniel, pics will be posted as soon as I get my slow ass moving on the brushes... slow and steady wins the race (the excuse of every fat, slow guy :sorry:)

Cheers all, I'll be back at it shortly

Colin

I think I listed all the blue mixes in the post with the last pics... but if I didn't:

Base: Dark Prussian Blue + Black + a dot of English Uniform and if needed, adjust with Prussian Blue
Highlight 1: Base + Dark Prussian Blue
Highlight 2: HL1 + Prussian Blue
Highlight 3: HL2 + Sky Grey
Shadow 1: Base + English Uniform + Black
Shadow 2: Sh1 + Black
Deep shadows and lining: Sh2 + Black

Hope this helps

Colin

A little progress on this...

I wrestled with the lace. Blue diamonds with red "wolf's teeth" on a white base with white piping over and under... a fierce pain in the ass! I'm not 100% happy with it but this pass is how it stays.
The apron and drum strap is being done with Andreas white set... this is the base coat pictured.
The tape on the coat is based sky grey, washed with black ink and brought up with successive layers of thinned offwhite. Still lots to be done with these.
Gaiters are based with sky grey and washed with black so far.

I should be further along on this but it's been a slow restart after a busy holiday season... gotta get back on track!!!!

Cheers

Hi Colin,
Happy New Year.
Super progress on this piece Mate. You may have had a tough time with the lace but the up shot is a really finely detailed collar and cuff.
He's looking in good shape.
It looks as though you are back in the groove already.
Keith
