Thanks Keith, good to hear from you.
At a distance, the lace looks not TOO bad, but it suffers under close scrutiny. I just have to get over it ;)
The next battle will be all the broad areas of white on the apron and drum strap.

Happy New Year to you too

Colin

Looking good mate I knew the collar & cuffs would be a pain but they look fine. you have had the practice now for when you do the chasseur LOL. Keep it up mate.

Cheers

Ian

Thanx Bob, Zeno, Pedro, Ian and Daniel.
I did some more last night and will be back at it tonight so I will have some decent progress pics to post.

Ian, thankfully the Chasseur is bigger than this guy so it will be SLIGHTLY less painful than this guy

Hey All
A bit more progress on the Tub-Thumper...
Apron and drum strap are done, using Andreas White set. Added Burnt Umber to the final shade mix.
All the black leather equipment is done.
Haversack strap is done in brown leather.
Base coats are done on the metals (buckles, buttons, cartridge pouch ornaments) using Darkstar brass. Ink washes and highlighting still to do.

Anyhoo... that's where we are at for now. Any and all comments and or advice is most humbly welcome.

Cheers

Thanks for looking in Ian, Pedro and Ralph... I always appreciate your supportive comments.
I'm starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel with this figure.

See if I can get some more done tonight.

Colin

Great progress Colin.
Might be a bit strange to say but the clasped hands are superbly painted Mate.
The whole paintwork is very sharp......I'm pleased that you got back to this little fella.
All the best,
Keith

Thanks Keith,
I usually struggle with hands, trying to get some distinction in the features without them looking cartoonish. Truth be told, I have a lot of fixing up on the inside where I slopped paint trying to get in behind them :-(
Otherwise I'm pretty happy with them.

I have to agree with Keith, the whole fig. Looks fantastic.
Usually i lay the base color on the hands, once dry, i apply citadel reikland skin wash ( To me one of the best ever washes for the face) , just few passes on the deep areas of the hand, beteen the fingers too and then increase the light on the knuckles.
For the nails i normally paint the tip of the finger in cavalry brown or similar, just like a crescent, then, with apply a little dab of the lightest color you 've use for the highlights, almost straight from the bottle, that will give that nail a stand out effect.

All the very best

Thanx Bob and Huw (good to hear from you again Huw). Daniel, thanx for the tips... is that wash you mentioned a new Citadel ink? They keep changing the names... I can't keep up ;)
Hope to get some more done tonight... This week's been stupid busy :blackeye:
Cheers
