Having seen Mitchell's Models half figure of GSM Mott with his bearskin raised giving three cheers for HM the Queen, I thought I would produce a full figure of him on Parade at Horse Guards:

I used the basic figure and a lot of Milliput with some plasticard and pewter sheet to effect the conversion.

I have nearly finished the service cap as well and will post when done.

Happy modelling,

Mike

Mike ,

That is a fine bit of modelling ..pose spot on , with great details everywhere.

Any chance of a close up of the sword hilt and straps ..be good to see the way you have achieved this area

Look forward to seeing this painted .

Thanks for sharing

I wasn't happy with the single link chin chain, and so I have done a more correct double link one and also added a service cap. I know the peak should be a touch more vertical, but I wanted to leave space for painting the eyes!

How did you do the double link chain ?

I made two 'springs' of about 20 turns out of fine solder wire. I gently pulled them both apart to leave just over 1mm gap between each turn. I flatenned one 'spring' (which is how to make a single link chain), and then turned the other, like doing up a screw, through the flatenned loops. I then had one flatenned chain and one spring interlinked with it, which I then flatenned in the opposite direction to the first. If you use a single link chain, remember that the rings should point down on each side unless your references show otherwise.

Looks good to me Mike. I like the stance very much. Looks like he is bawling some unfortunate out as he strides across the square.
I think Ross is too busy at the moment to take it on for MMM so I will cast some and update once I have them. If anyone on PF would like one just let me know.
Cheers
Gordon
