Rob, nice to see you embark into the sculpting arena
A pointer, the neck is much to stiff (vertical) If possible , use a bit of solder or soft wire between the head and shoulders to move the head forward a bit. That would give a more natural posture
Few more: line of the nose looking from the front should be thin-wide-thin.
Middle of the nose is always widest part (as the nasal bone is positioned at that place). Try to thin the area close to the eyes and then again before the tip of the nose. Also I think that the tip of the nose is a bit too wide.
I think Mouth are too big, usually the corners of the mouth are lined up with center of the eyes. Mouth area is not flat (try to imagine the teeth below).
I can give more tips if you give us profile photo
Hope I do not sound harsh, just want to help the same way others helped me
Trying to upload stuff but failing as usual- the figure is mounted and the painting has started. Thanks for the advice and it will be caried onto the next figure I attempt!
I always start my bust with the naked chest and shoulders. I figure that way I can't go too much wrong with the clothes (if the naked body proportions are OK).
True, some sculptors block the clothes (as for example Antonio does), but they are experienced and they know exactly what's hiden below.
Just the tip for the next one, maybe this "trick" can work for you too...
