Yes I'm gutted that I couldn't get there but I think we'll be visiting Leuven even after my youngest has finished his masters. It's expensive (4.5 euros for a small beer) but we love it there and it's only a short train ride and an uber to the museum. Of course once I've done that there will have to be a trip to Paris!!

La Musée de l’Armée is a must. It has been refurbished since the first time I visited it. Prettier but so much great stuff put into storage! Blasphemous! But still worth the trip.

Well at the risk of offending the French there are some pretty costumes and pointy sticks in a building over there!!

Just added similar to this over on the Historex Small Builds page.

I have added the flowing in the wind horse tail decoration to the Generals helmet, and this is how I did it.

Firstly I drilled some small holes in the comb atop the helmet.



Into these I added short lengths of wire, just the stuff you get in Poundland with picture hanging kits, the ones with the bendy nails!



This gives the frame to build the detail onto. Then to make adding putty easier I fleshed out the general shape with Tamiya masking tale like so.



Onto this I added a coating of Magicsculpt to make the whole thing a little more solid and easier to work on.



Then with a solid base to build on I added width, depth or whatever is the right description, probably volume but the it sounds like a shampoo ad!



Once this is all set and cured I add a few coats of liquid sprue or gloop.



I will give this about 24 hours to fully cure and then set to work with the pyrogravure. Taking time to ensure I detail all the area and get the strands looking like they all flow in the same direction, before rubbing it over with a sanding stick to get rid of the loose strands of plastic.




I hope this all makes some kind of sense, there may be easier ways of doing it but I don't know what they are.
