Hi guys,

here is my first completed figure for ages having returned to the hobby following a long long period of serious illness, needless to say I've got a lot better not fully there yet but able to focus and get some modelling done so here is my latest project.
The figure is a 120mm 101st Airborne soldier at the time of Operation Market Garden. Now before everyone says it I know this kit is a recast but in my defense when I bought it about Two years ago I didn't know it was a recast till it turned up in the post with no box and had a Chinese post mark (listing had it as Australian) I reported it to Ebay who did nothing surprise surprise! but having paid with Paypal I was able to get my money back.

The kit was a lot of trouble though the helmet was really badly cast so replaced that with a metal one, had to scratch build one A strap as that was missing, added a holster from my spares which didn't have the U.S emboss on it so I made from wire, made from lead foil and wire the rifle sling and Scratch built Bayonet.

But hey got there in the end and i'm pretty chuffed with the results it took a while cos of hand tremors had to keep putting it down but I did it.

cheers

Simon

Looks pretty good from where I'm sitting Simon, and the netting on the helmet is excellent.

I've been after this S&T figure for a some time (wish I'd bought it when I had the chance, when it was in production). So imagine my chuffedness a few months back to find an original (not a knock-off!) in its original box on feeBay at a decent price. It duly arrived from the States - but the bandolier and the helmet first aid pack were missing. Useless to me, as my sculpting skills are non-existent so I couldn't fashion my own replacements.

I eventually got a refund, but I'd much rather have had a useable kit.

Very nice work. If I had to critisise anything the only thing I can say is the ammo pouches on his chest may need more shading and shadow, as does the hanging helmet strap. It may be that the photos are lit too much. Damn pics show every little error, I speak from bitter experience. I agree that the helmet netting is brilliant and I especially like the canvas colours you have used which look great. Well done and I am glad you are on the road to recovery. I wish you well.

Yeah i think i missed a few bits Jazz, but glad you like him, as I said the helmet netting was made using ladies tights as they give the perfect effect, yeah i always try and use several different tones for webbing as equipment issued in the field came from different batches and manufacturers hence different colours.

Thanks been a long battle but starting to get back on my feet

Cheers
