.......

Thanks Nap, I have spent a few hours going through the "Snow" threads on here and they helped a lot in confirming my thoughts on how to base this guy (The one you linked from Harry is excellent). But nobody seems keen to dirty up 200mm+ figures in pretty uniforms. No problem slinging copious quantities of mud over your Panzer Grenadier or "Pals" Battalion boys but cloth in the Napoleonic era seems strangely stain resistant.
Have to admit to being stuck for ideas currently.

Well I have to say congrats, you are turning this into something good.considering how it started out your patience is paying off well done.

Thanks Steve, I have been splitting time between him, an old Verlinden bust of Marshal Lannes (another strip and repaint project) and some 54mm figures.
I passed the point of "no return" with him after sculpting the cloak and helmet, I am pleased enough with the results and have spent too much time to stop now. Bloody mindedness will see it through to the end!

You'd never know it was the same figure. Nice work.
Rick

Thanks Rick, It even surprises me, but I still catch myself thinking "....... I could just carve that off and resculpt....."
The physical size of him has confirmed my feeling to limit my painting to maximum 75mm size full figures or 1/8 to 1/12 busts. Painting something this big is hard work.

Lovely figure matey, did he make it back from Moscow in time for Crimbo!?
Sadly no, he, like everyone else in the household over Christmas and New Year fell foul of the ravages of Covid and Influenza.
I still need to finish the border design on his looted cloak, sculpt out a plume and add belts and sword slings. Then build a display base for the bugger.

Heck of a restoration job Rob, must admit at first sight I'd have left it well alone but you've soldiered on admirably. It'll be interesting when complete.

Cheers Simon
