Hav'nt posted in a while and still have another project to finish, but I thought I would get back into painting now that Xmas is over with a straight up standard bust.
For this I chose the new CGS miniatures French Imperial Guard Artillery officer bust, beautiful bust, beautifully produced by graham scollick and sculpted by Carl Reid, not a bust I would recommend to anyone just starting out in the hobby, but beautifully done.
This is only a work in progress and as you can see from the pictures, some of the flesh work on the hands is unblended,I did mean to do this before the pics were taken but forgot,it is quite noticeable.
All the painting was done in my usual style of oils over acrylic basecoats.
Just the pellise to complete and some minor touch ups here an there and it won't be far off completion.
I always like to add a backdrop or prop into most of my subjects,so I used part of a cannon wheel with the officer leaning against it,I think it just gives it something extra.

Super job Brian. The addition of the wheel is a master stroke. Will be waiting to see it completed. This one is going on my 2020 wish list for sure.

Is he supposed to be seat?
I am asking because the wheel of the cannon is at his shoulder high, and besides to seat down, thing that seems odd because he is looking over with the monocular this representation doesn’t make sense

Great start on this one Brian. This is a super sculpt and the pose and detail really do look top notch. Are you using a NMM for the lacework?

I'm not sure what you don't understand,do you know how big a cannon wheel is ?,in some cases shoulder height,no he's not seated,I'm not asking you to understand it, I'm asking you to like it,which I noticed you hav'nt done, only questioned it,some things on planet never change

I think it makes perfect sense Brian. He’s a horse artillery officer who has dismounted to look at his next objective / target. The wheel is a good size and coated in wet grass. If you read 24 hrs at Waterloo it frequently describes the Horse Artillery moving positions to get the best shot.

Superb mate well done!!
