Hi Alex,
Top notch mate and following this, brilliant.
Ref the pack and greatcoat. The pack looks strange without the roll so it was added, as correctly mentioned above, he is wearing the greatcoat as it is Waterloo.
Alex asked me my views on the roll on the pack so here is my take on it. Of course you have many options to personalise him for you as you wish.
Best wishes and thank you all for the interest and support on this piece

I saw it as he is wearing the greatcoat as mentioned, in the good traditions of soldiers on campaign, he would have utilised the space on top of his pack to carry anything else he could get his hands on. So really it is at the discretion of you and that is the direction I went in the instructions.
Bill Horan painted his striped but it looked slightly different as added a cover to the blanket

That is the tickin cover for the Bearskin Gra ,normally folded and put in the haversack when not in use .
I can see a great debate arising here ,goodness me has the great Bill Horan made a mistake

Ron

Thank you Ron, I didn't realise that.
So we are ok with the blanket then
Cheers mate and best wishes

Another update. Over the last couple of days I've been getting on with the uniform and the flag. Some info on the colours I've used is found on my blog including a breakdown of my flesh colour palette.

Here's where I'm at.

Still weathering to be done on the Greatcoat and flag but saving that till the end. Looking forward to the embroidery next, it should really pop out on that flag.

Thanks for looking.

Alex.

Hello Alex..... I'm in the process of painting this myself so this thread is a great help .....can you tell me is the epaulette and shoulder board on the greatcoat red and is the hair that is pulled to the rear white or hair coloured? ....Cheers....

Superb Alex, love it :)
Epaulettes are Red Kev and the hair can be white or coloured I believe. I have seen Old Guards painted with dark brown moustaches but will look up now to see if it was specifically powdered or not.
Best wishes and thanks for the updates Alex

Epaulettes are red and the hair can be either but it was common to powder it white as well. I'll have some new picture up later.

Cheers Graham always wondered about the hair being white especially the bit to the rear when everything else ie facial hair and side burns usually being natural colour.....always seemed a bit odd to me but now I know it was powdered that makes more sense...Cheers

A few picture updates on the progress of this. Did some work on the flag yesterday and today I managed to make some progress with the knapsack and the blanket roll (yes, I've done it as a blanket roll) as well as the white straps.

Alex this is looking superb buddy ! ;) you up your game with each piece ! love the Whites in the flag and the lettering in particular+ the soft transitions, it all looks great.

Id maybe just bring the blanket roll up some more bro, emphasising the form a bit with more shading towards the bottom of the roll and more highlighting across the top.

Keep it up (y) + big up Scroobius Pip :joyful:

Your bang on with that blanket roll analysis buddy, I've just been updating my blog with these new images and plan to put in some more work on that next time I'm on the bench following some scrutiny of the pictures.

Just got tickets for Scroobius Pip vs Dan Le Sac for a gig in my home town :joyful:
