That's just natural shadow, courtesy of an overhead lamp.

Not welling up with nostalgia. Not at all...

First coats for hair and jacket trim.
Second for the canteen - which got painted with a mixture of what's on the tile.
And that's perfectly appropriate, historically.

No problem with celtic blood lines, still got most of the hair but thinning on top and my forehead keeps getting bigger, would be happy to be rid of it all but the boss says no!

I think the photography has bleached the blue out of the coat!

To be honest David, I think the blue is too bright. It should be a very dark blue, while the hat was black. Indeed the Iron Brigade was also known as those "Damned Black Hats."

It's far from finished, and there was a desk lamp directly above the table when I took the photo on a phone (the hat is not quite black, cos it's gonna be shaded, along with everything else)
