Thanks John much appreciated. I've always thought a lot more could be done figure wise for this bloke (y)

Steve

Well done, Steve, nice result - especially using oils for the first time on a face. I reckon you can't beat them for flesh tones.
Interesting history on the bloke too, nice to know a bit of the background.

Final based pic with one of Chippy's plinths and a name plate done in the Del style ;)

Because that was probably the spelling I was looking at at the time or you know being human I made a mistake. Oddly enough you are the only person who seems bothered by it

Hey. Your historical interpretation is nice and informative. The problem is that you named this bust Jan Zizka. His appearance is significantly different. There is needed different appearance to be Jan Zizka. It will be difficult to make this bust into sculture of Jan Zizka. I know the sculptor of this bust. I'm glad his bust it well-sold. I apologize, but it is just friendly evaluation. I would mark this bust as a ''noname''. Keep my figners crossed for future projects.

I don't know Helm I think maybe the doomsday clock took another step to midnight because of the spelling!

For a minute there I assumed the thread was about the bust....silly me.

Nice job there. Especially with the oils.

Cheers Grant ;) Now I am going to have the Maiden song Two Minutes to Midnight playing in my head all day

Oh, for gods sake...Seriously, gents. Yes, world is going to end- what Mayan calendar didn't do, this spelling will. The scores of my ancestors - and more importantly yours are rolling in graves in disdain.

Personally, I am not bothered in the slightest - silly me for taking interest in the project and thinking somebody may be wanting to get things right.

Lets have a rule on PF that no mistakes need to be pointed out any more because if doesn't matter.

Lets also have the rule the mistakes actually have to be mistakes and not somebody elses idea that it's a mistake eh ? As I said there are numerous variations of the name and Ziska is one so it's perfectly valid in any case whether the thread title is different or not. As Grant pointed out it's about the bust not the bloody name tag
Steve

If you want to take it there- the only correct way to spell it is the Czech way, that's how he would have spelled it.
Thread is about the bust, bust has a name plate, plate is as valid part of the bust as the rest.

You named the thread with a most appropriate spelling, then decided to change, all I asked - are you sure? Yes, I will appreciate its a bummer when its already done and you are quite happy with it. I am sorry for bringing it up.

What you are reacting to is that fact that some one questioning out you may have made a mistake, so I wonder how old is that Steve that is responding like this.

You like your work, I like your work, lets be friends. I have no beef (or rather horse these days).

Really because Shakespeare spelt his own name several different ways but clearly he was wrong too as well then by that logic * shrugs* I'll give you ample opportunity to find out exactly how old I am at S&L as you can meet me face to face

find out exactly how old I am at S&L as you can meet me face to face

I question not your biological age, only your response.

Let me try again.

Well presented bust and very skilfully rendered with oils. Original name plate and spelling is fine.
Overall a nicely done original version of a historical character who is sadly under-represented in modern miniature.

.

And I thought academics were pedantic:wacky: Cool bust, nicely painted. Didn't understand about making the nameplate "the Del way" (I assume it has something to do with Derek), please explain.
