As I heard last year, that Jon Smith is sculpting a new figure with a MG 08/15, it was a hard time for me until this kit appeared. After I got the great box with two figures, one MG 08/15, gasmaks with different heads, ammunition and many trench-parts, it was like eastern, christmas and birthday together.

But here my try to explain what I have found in the box.

The figures are 120mm Scale. All parts are resin-parts with the exception of the trench parts and the glasses. It is a very light grey resin without any smell. I have found only a few bubbles and pinholes under the figures. You can see it on the pictures. The fitting is perfect, as I know it from other figures from Jon Smith.

I haven´t count the parts, but there are about 40 cartridges and cartridge cases and three gasmasks (each mask has 2 parts and 2 separated glasses), the MG 08/15 with different ammunition boxes. You can get a first impression, when you will have a look at the pictures

The second part

And now the rest.
You will find in the kit a detailed paint-instruction and some helpful informations about the figures.

The whole kit is wonderful detailed and there is only some cleaning work before one can paint the figures.

At last some shot from the trench

I have use a 1-Euro-Coin, so you can see how big it is. And here is IMOH one problem. There much more parts to build the trench and so it would be very big one. On one picture you can see that there are stairs in the bunker. And here I don´t know at the moment how to build the whole trench with the stairs

Nevertheless it is a great kit and IMOH the best one from Jon Smith.

I have a second problem. Namely to explain my wife, that I need a second show case.

But I think, that I will need some month to build and paint the kit. And so I have some time until the second problems will be a problem

VERY NICE, Ulrich :p !!! Thanks for the in-depth review. So, what's the damage  ( that is, the cost of the kit ) like ? It must be pretty expensive for such a beautiful piece of work. Like Roger, I'm looking forward to the painted version. Cheers !
Kenneth ;).

Thanks Roger and Kenneth

If I compare the price for this kit with the costs for the new 90mm figures from pegaso and romeo, the price for the kit from Jon Smith is fair.

I have payed 115,00 Euro and with package 120,00 Euro. 115,00 Euro must be nearly 151,00 USD.

I think this is really okay.

Very Fine

Thanks for the Review, the kits look well thought out as far as assembly, keying of parts, and careful placement of the casting plugs, which all equal simple and fast clean up.

I`ve been looking at his wonderful JS22, German infantry NCO 1917 for some time and will have to get one now.

Yes, you can.

Hi Brian !
Yes, I do believe the figures can be purchased separately, as can the accessories and base. HTH. Cheers !
