Dear friends, being in a bust fever i m in progress painting this amazing piece from Young Miniatures. One of the most lively faces i ve seen. Face is almost done, everything else needs much work. Criticism welcome as always.

Hi Dimitris, excellent skintones but those large metallic surfaces are a challenge to paint. What colour medium are you going to use?Chris.

Marc, Damian, Chris thank you for commenting. Chris the main body of the armour except the chainmail has already recieved a basecolor of silver ink with ivory black, some brown and black shades and some edging with pure silver ink. In the pics everything is kind of toned done a bit. What i plan to do nextisi use films of various colors and some heavy weathering.

Face and beard look great so far! Perhaps a little more redness on the cheeks and nose?

What metallic paint(s) are you using?

I wouldn't do catchlights on the eyes though, unless you plan on painting all similar lighting effects. Where there are varied finishes on things like metal, leather, sweaty skin etc. it looks more realistic to gloss the eyeball, so that any highlight moves with the viewer's position.

Einion

David thank for your kind words. Einion I hear what you say about the white dots on the eyes and it makes sense. I ve tried before a satin varnish but I didn't shIne as much as I wanted. Maybe it needed more coats. I don't know. As far as the metals go I use an ink which brand I don't know cause I got just a bit from a friend.

Γεια Δημήτρη!!!
πολλή ωραια φιγουρα και το βαψιμο στο προσωπο είναι καταπληκτικό,περιμένω να την ολοκληρωσεις.
Very good skintone.

Alexandros

Alexandre thank you very much for both your posts. I m glad you like them. Trying to steal some time these days to make a little progress on this one.

Try a gloss varnish or acrylic medium. The sheen level for satin varies a bit unfortunately, it can be semi-gloss but can even be semi-matt by our standards (something like the standard finish of acrylic paints for artists, e.g. this).

Mauro and Nicolas thank you for taking the time to look and leave a comment. Some progress on the leather parts and the armor. Reaching completion.
