...well...he's about a 90% solution...I need to touch up the belt work, the metallics (specifically the sword knot) and then hit him with some dull coat. I haven't even started the base, yet...ugh :( ...I'll post the completed piece this weekend..

Hope all is well, and I look forward to your comments... ;)

Looking very nice Patrick. How'd you do the green on the jacket? (Sorry if you stated this in an earlier thread somewhere...)

Thanks Hardy...I'll shoot you a 1/4 pic to the house...the flesh tones look a lil better in that pic than in this one...not sure why they look so "yellow," but they aren't that way on the figger. Maybe it's the filter I am using...

Really appreciate your kind words my friend...hope all is well with you
All the best, Hardy

Patrick

Francesca,
Glad that you like him so far...
I undercoated with a military green from Vallejo and used an oil base of Cinnebar Green and a touch of Lamp Black (just a tiny bit). I added a tiny bit of Dorlands Wax and English Spirits for the base, color too. The Dorlands cuts down on the sheen and the English Spirits help it dry a lil faster.

I shaded this with the base and a lil of Prussian Blue and then higlighted with the base a Cadium Yellow. At the highest highlights, I used pure Cadium Yellow with a touch of Zinc White...

Does that help, Francesca?
All the best

Patrick

Yup. :)

In all honesty, I don't have much occassion to paint green, but I was very impressed with how it turned out, so I was curious. Thanks!

Patrick , even though I never liked this piece a lot( personal opinion) I have to say that you made a great job of it. A big well done mate !!!

Hi Patrick,
That's a very good looking job you did there. Especially like the lace work on the jacket. Are you using printers inks there?
I've done one Napoleonic and I think that's going to be it for me. All that fine detail gave me a headache :(.
Craig

Yeah, yeah another 120mm from Patty boy Kirk! Be a man and try a 54mm would ya!! LOL!! Brother as I said at the office looks great. I think the pics you sent me look even better. I am sure in the flesh at the DC show will really make the colors jump. Maybe you could bring in those colors with you next Hawaiian shirt eh?

Larry,
"Patty Boy"? I'll have to remember that one. I think Patrick should be a man and try his hand at painting CAMO (54mm optional).

Stephen,
Thanks for the kind words ;) ...I didn't like the stock hand that came with the figger, so I decided to go with a new hand. I tried working a hand resting on a post, and that was just hurtful (as Petey, he saw the inprogress pic; sculpting isn't my bag, baby!) and decided to go with this one...I made the telescope in his right hand outa spare parts...a different look.

Hope all is well

Patrick

Craig,
Actually I haven't applied the printers ink yet...I will once I have it all dull coated, though. I'll post a pic of LaSalle once I have him on his base. I agree with you, the detail work on the belts and straps is enough to make me think about doing a 54mm.....

Whoa, what the hell am I thinking! ;)

All the best

Patrick

My brothers...
You two slay me!
Let me tell you, nothing would make me drink more than trying to do that detail work on a 54mm piece...good GOD, no! ;)

But just to make "Larry" happy, I think I'll give one a go...yep the challenge is on and, uh, I am never one to back down from a challenge...

Remember my borthers, I have friends, some very interesting friends that cashing in a blue chip may bring something of biblical proportions...

Gee Larry, you think? Let's make it official ....

Patrick,
I hereby make the following official challenge: paint a 1/35 WWII SS trooper (of your choice) in camouflage in time for the Chicago show.

So, whadya say, Pattyboy?

P.S - I've got cousins who are "connected" in Mexico

Perfect painting. It isn't easy to paint a "clean" figure, but you have done it just right. All the lacing must have been an pain in the *** to paint I guess? Bravo!

Gino

Thanks Gino; this piece was a lot of fun...learned even more, too...
The lace work was the most trying part of the figger and since (like a dummy) I attached the left arm it made the work on that sleeve and the chest that much harder...
