Looks good Roger.I'm looking forward to seieng how you tackle this figure.

Excellent comment about goats too by Oda - a nice roast or curried kid (young goat NOT child as I've given up cannibalism some time ago) is one of my favourite meals.

Cheers

This kapetanios(Greek for leader of band of irregulars)already looks proud and defiant.Very, very, very good job!!!

Oda.

Kapetanios is the Greek word for Captain actually.
If you visit the volcano when at Santorini, you can call "Kapetanios" the boat captain. ;)

Absolutely correct. It means both captain and band leader. You can actually call to him shouting:hey capetanio (as opposed to the grammatically correct:hey capetanie)it will sound much more....should I say"maritime".

Our Captain will not know the difference, he's from Newcastle and can barely speak English. :D
I hope he doesn't take up figure painting and reads this. :nailbiting::ROFLMAO:

Very good indeed, both on the painting and the terminology. Now for something a little bit more difficult:the traditional gaiters of the irregulars(not worn in this case):τουζλούκια(touzloukia, where the ou's are pronounced as in "you") and the cummerband:σελάχι(selachi,se as in per se,la as in laboratory, the ending is just too difficult for the English ch does not sound exactly like the Greek χ).Now for the painting....ooops nothing to add there,it's just awesome.

Oda.

Thank you Oda. I look forward to your entertaining and educational posts on this thread, keep them coming. :)

I know what you mean about the Greek χ, saying a simple word like thank you in Greek can be difficult, however from my experience a certain amount of liquid lubrication of the vocal chords helps. (y):D

Right again.I think you are a natural. You should take up Greek, it's easier than what's believed. If you've mastered your painting techniques(as is obvious by the pics above)you can surely learn Greek.

Oda.
