Dear Friends,
Sadly for all, we have been forced to cancel the 2012 Long Island Show. While the Village of Freeport and the staff of the Center have done an amazing job of getting the Center ready to resume operations, there arose late yesterday, the strong probability of the Center being appropriated by FEMA for an indefinite period. This probability creates a level of uncertainty that forces us to take this action.
To further exacerbate the situation, the site of our annual dinner, The Riverside Grill, is now the River Bottom Grill. The Freeport Boatel has also been somewhat compromised. Those having reservations there, please call and cancel at your earliest convenience.
Vendors...none of your checks have been deposited. Please contact John Jeffries to arrange for there disposal. Thank you for your support over the years. We could not do it without you.
Exhibitors...Reprieved...you can breath easier and stop burning the midnite oil to complete your latest masterpiece. Seriously, we will miss seeing you all. Thank you for your support and contributions which have made the Long Island Show such a success..
Should anyone who has made travel plans to come to New York still wish to do so, please feel free to contact me for airport pick up etc.
Thank you all for your understanding. Rest assured we will make the 2013 Long Island Show bigger and better than ever.
Still without power or heat...

Best wishes to all you guys over there. Hope things get back to normal for you sooner rather than later.

This was a very wise decision as the lives of so many have been effected by this force of nature. I for one couldn't see how I could chance the trip with so little time for cleanup in that neck of the woods. Our thoughts are with you all and we look forward to next years event with great friendship and expectations.

Kevin, I gather from your note that everyone is ok, just without power...I hope that is true. It is getting more difficult to deal with the loss of power as the temperature has begun to drop. Hope all are safe. Regards,

As one of two sanctioned (and mandatory) road trips for the Hawaiian Shirt Mafia, the Long Island Show holds an honored place on our calendars. On a purely personal level, missing the opportunity to visit with our friends from the Club, as well as all the other attendees, is a huge disappointment. Nevertheless, we fully support the decision, and stand ready to assist the Club in their efforts to get ready for 2013.
There are times when the old New England - New York rivalry is fun and entertaining, and then there are times when, like siblings who argue with each other but close ranks against all others, we support our friends regardless of artificial boundaries.
You all are in our thoughts. If we can help, please let us know.

Well, we got our power back inFreeport today. Its been a bit of an inconvenience but not too bad. It is nice to turn on the lights and have heat.
Thanks to all for your concern....
Kevin
