I know that there've been a couple of posts detailing how you can make your own nameplates for wooden bases using the Microsoft Word program. My problem is that those posts used the older versions of Word rather than the current version with the 2007 Microsoft Vista program.

PC savvy I'm not so when I get to the final step before printing, I can't shrink the creation down to the tiny size I need to fit on a base. It'll shrink down just so far but it's still just barely too big for a 54mm base. As an added bonus, I lose any color effects I've included with the tag.

Ah, I can hear some of you now, "Move on to 75mm & larger." Yes, that's an option but I'd like to know first if it's something I'm doing wrong (more than likely) or an issue with Vista Word.

Thanks. Mike

Why would you need to shrink it when you can create a document exactly to the size you want? If the nameplate is to be 1.5 inches by 3 inches for example create a document that size and then put your lettering in there. As far as it not printing in color sometimes you need to specify to the printer to print color versus B/W which might be default.
