Hi all, I'll try to make a SBS with a Metal Model figure. It is Mameluke officer and I'll paint it with oils. It'll be my third figure with this technique because before I used acrilics. My 1st SBS, low skills with oils, and a very bad English... oh my God this gonna be a chaotic SBS.

Anyway, I just wanna spent a good time with all you and show you my job. I will use this few words to introduce myself because I am new here in this page.
Less words and more pics.
I've started with the horse, it was primed with Citadel spray and no modifications or improvements were done.

Wow interesting
you changed from acrylics to oils?
never heard this in the last time.
Every people want to use acrylic.
Not me.
What kind of oilcolours do you use?
I am now very intereted in your painting style.

Hi Stephan. I tried oils three or four months ago and I liked them. I was testing with one figure and I had to repit it twice. Brighty or glossy was the first result but little by little I could control a bit technique oil. It has pros and cons. I'm afraid of leave acrilic technique. It can be sound stupid but i've been painting for many years with acrilics and now I discover a new and wide world for me. I think that the best thing is to use both oils and acrilics in the same time. I can say I am in a test period with oils and of course I would like to read your criteria and opinions about it. It is said that acrilics are used in Europe and oils in USA. Why not use a mix of two? Colour degradation is diferent in every style but for flat colour or a big part of colour I think it is easier with oils. It is just a personal opinion and I don't try to start an argue about it.

About my oils, they are a mix of marks. Rembrant and Titan (spanish trade).

Jesus, I'm looking forward to your SBS as I too have a Mamelouk going at this time. Terrific looking uniforms but can be a bit trick painting with all the tying the colors together. What colors did you decide to paint your uniform?

The Metal Model horse has beautiful detail and sculpting. I may have to take a look at their line of 54mm mounted figures. I look forward to seeing more of this kit.

I'm sorry I forgot introducing the figure.
It is my first Metal Model figure and i am very happy with the quality. No defects in pieces and the quarter is as you see in the pic.

Jim about the colour of the uniform, I've not decide the color yet. I've got several options but not too many. The bibliography I have got is very poor about the figure.

Hi again guys, This is the acrilic cover.
I have used Vallejo colour as follow:
light brown (929), Chocolate brown (872) and Cadmium moroon (859)

and now the oils. It is not totally dry yet. It is only painted the fur not the mane.
I've used: Base- Yellow ochre, burnt umber and a bit of English Red light. Lights- Naples yellow and titanium white. Shadows- Burnt umber and lamp black.
