I have it in my hot little hands and....................................WOW!(y) This is the first figure painting book I have bought (and I have bought a lot) that has proper, well photographed step-by-step guides that really show the painting process in detail with helpful accompanying text. I haven't had a chance to actually read it yet, but just skimming through the photos is already helping me see where I might try different approaches.

Mike, you did a fantastic job on this, at last we get to see the secrets behind the masterpieces. Now all I have to do is to convince my brushes to do the same.......

Fantastic News Nigel to hear it is finally arriving in modellers’ hands mate!
Thanks for kind comments, trust as you begin reading it you’ll gain confidence to have a go with adapting to your own approach mate.
You’re getting me excited about getting my own copies!
Remember keep that receipt too mate.

Ordered to Germany; available in approx. 3 weeks; counting the days!
Know how you feel Karl :)
No idea when will finally drop into my mailbox too.
Well worth the wait. To see into the mysteries of the producing of Mike's great figures was a revelation. The techniques are masterful. Thank you for a great piece of work.
So neat to read your initial thoughts Rob & pleasing to hear you’re finding it inspiring. Do share further feedback as you start to use it. Hang onto receipt too mate!
Calming pills are sold out in a 10 km radius.
Almost without nails due to the waiting.
The postman no longer fears the dog simply avoids my door while it doesn't bring my book!
Paulo, I’m with you patiently waiting day by day for the package to drop too.

eBook now available!

I think that's what I'm finding helpful, seeing how you approach things is making me adapt my approach. I like the way you do faces and I'll definitely try that, and it's been helpful to see how you start off with the base colours and build up the layers. I don't think I will go the whole hog with the textured approach but I will definitely use some of your principles.

One question - it looks like you don't undercoat your figures. Did I interpret the photos correctly?

Thanks Nigel & good to see you’re finding it helpful to try something new.

No I typically don’t undercoat resin figures with a neutral tone.
Instead prefer specific base-coats that will provide depth or light depending on effect I want to apply over these.
Make sense

Ok, so that'll learn me to keep up with PF, I'm gone a few days and missed this post, sheesh!

Crowood doesn't like my address, but I'll try it anyway. Ok, seems to be working,..........

How do we get that signed copy, Mike?

P.S. Note, saw this on top banner: We are temporarily not able to deliver orders to the EU.

Got mine today, only had a quick look through but have to congratulate you mike on your superb work to put this together, excellent job mate and well worth the wait.
Off now to get my head stuck into it.

Thanks Steve for your initial impressions.
Trust it is a practical reference you can put to use.
Wanted it to be something that you dip in & out of as you practice plus try new things while developing your own approach.
Remember keep receipt :)

YE HAH!!!!!!!!!!
Mines arrived ...quick flick through ......CONGRATULATIONS Mike , can't wait to read fully
Happy days
Nap
So what are you thinking Nap - Full review please!
Very soon most of this site will be painting as well as Mike!
Like Nigel said, “ All we have to do is persuade our brushes to behave like Mike’s do!!”
So looking forward to getting my copy!
Andy
Sad that in another time & space Andy I would have hand delivered this to you. Unfortunately that won’t happen.
But cannot wait to hear what you think of final product.
Always grateful for your encouragement!

Good to hear Steve!
Only way you can get autographed & personal message is from me in NZ. That won’t happen till they land here later in the year.

Ref: Crowood’s EU note is a Brexit thing.
Though copies are spreading across the globe through distributors & retailers. Expect will take 6-8months before Supply Chain fills up with stock. For example Was neat to see MS Models in Japan now taking preorders. https://www.msmodelswebshop.jp/phone/news-detail/2947

I’ll look at doing virtual book launch sessions when books are readily available globally. Do have one planned with Dave Hoffman & NCMSS in October - who will be there?
Bring it on!!

Hi Mike

Well happy as you should be , read/ looked at couple of chapters last night ........you've nailed this , easy to read and easy to understand , great pictures

I will do a full look at it for you but obviously all are welcome to do so with their copy

How about thinking of a personalised insert card signed by your good self , any cost i.e. post paid by the recipient...

Pat on the back to you .....and a well deserved drink ...or two

Thanks Nap for comments.
Personal card, hmmm…
Nice idea! Had thought of a sticker of some sort, but that is much better & could be more easier filled without hassles of getting book stock down here or double postage to NZ.
I did have some artist business cards made a whole back which I’d add a message to when sending stuff.
What do others think?
Would you be interested in a personalised bookmark & message?
