Hey all,
Just finished this one today; the box bills him as a 54mm figure of a XV Century Halbardier (even though he's carrying a poleaxe), sculpted by Andrew Bleskine for the now-defunct firm, First Guards. Hope you like...

He's a bit of a departure from my usual WWII stuff and was a real blast to paint up. I changed the colour of his livery from red & blue (a Burgundian ?) to red & green, just 'cause I liked it better (if anyone knows if this colour combo represents an actual household of the time, please let me know).
As always, comments, critiques and advice are much appreciated.
Cheers,
Brian

Great work !!!

I find that the painting of the figure and the groundwork goes perfectly well together. It creates a real atmosphere. I think that you made a good choice to use green and red. It looks better that red and blue in my opinion.

Shame this figure ´s no longer available.
I like it very much, likewise the subdued tones of your painting.
Spike.

Lovely sculpt and a beautifull bit of painting!
Red and blue = Burgundian,
Red and green, WotR´s , you have a choice
Earl of Kent, Henry Lord Grey of Codnor (switched sides from lancs to york)
Robert, 3rd Lord Hungerford and Lord Molynes (lancaster)

Thanks very much everyone for the very kind comments - much appreciated!

Thanks Paul for the research - now I can make up a nameplate for the base!

Cheers,

I´m glad I found something. It definately deserves a nameplate.
I´ve just noticed a good idea with your painting, the inside of the hood being white...
I would never of considered that.but it is quite logical that could be made from two layers of material. Brings out the face as well..
I´ve still got loads to look at and study on it., a real shame it´s not produced anymore.

I don´t think so, Carl - I´ve had this in my "favourites" for a while and every time I go back to it the price is 0.00 euros.

I haven't heard much about 1st Guards for a while. I know the product line was produced in Russia but the business side of the company was handled by a young Russian guy here in the Toronto area. We were lucky as he would bring his new pieces to our local club meeting before they were released
