I have two, of the 'Poste-Militaire', 'Mounted, Red Lancer', figures! clearly apart from the colours! is there any other change in the uniform, that I am not aware of ? .. or changes required! to paint the figure as a 'Polish-Lancer'. ... I cannot see a difference, at all, but maybe there is something I am missing ..

LOL!.... A bit of, 'Dremmelling', and, 'Magi Sculpt'! and me !!!..Hmm!.... 'How to turn a, 'Historical', piece into a 'Fantasy figure', the easy way! ... Le Diable Francais! (Apologies to any of our French friends) .. for my lousy translation!

This will be a sweet figure.
The horse furniture doesn't appear to have the lozenge on the Polish Lancer.
I also thought the edging of the saddlecloth was smooth unless an officer, but all these changes should be quite straight forward and the lozenge can be removed as the harness is separate on the PM kit.
Don't forget the N and crown at the front of the cloth.
Best wishes and look forward to more

Thanks, Guys!.. clearly some, thinking/studying to do ! ... most of it centred around the saddle cloth! and insignia! ... that will be fun !. There is little chance of matching the 'N', with the pre-moulded eagle, on the saddle! ... that one has got my brain burning! .. on how!:arghh: .. the 'N'. possibly, the crown above it, ... well that's something different!

Regards,

Mark

I did have one of these in my grey army somewhere, but then again it may have got sold on somewhere. This was Ray Lamb at his best.

K/Lad,
It was indeed! ... Although, now 'Bonapartes', hold all of his original moulds! .. and are still producing this quality work! ... an up-shot is, is that the Horse Tack, and Lance, for this piece is, maybe, back on the cards, for re-production, in the not to distant future! ... I for one would be a happy-chappie! .. as this would open up a number of avenues! .. lhf1.jpg .

Regards,

Mark.

You may find the bottom of the trousers on the Polish were laced up. The Dutch weren't.
At the risk of sounding like a button/rivet counter. I'll pack in.

Cheers, Colin.,

Nice references, ... it would seem, that the major difference is in the, 'Saddle',... and the inclusion of the, 'N', .. Grrrrr!.. nothing is ever easy!... not with my, 'Pinkey's'! ..

Mark, I know this might be totally useless but I think I remember there being a US manufacturer of a resin conversion kit for this. If I remember right it turned up in an article in Military Modelling back in the late 1990's. I know Bonapartes occasionally list a resin campaign czapska/overalls/right arm with sword conversion pack for the Red Lancer and what I remember is of a similar sort of thing but including the Polish Lancer saddlecloth.

thats got to be wort a try Mark:)

There was a professional painter, Robert Baxter, around in the 90's who specialised in Poste Militaire conversions and talked about starting a range of resin figures/conversion parts.

I think the uniform is the same save colour and white piping around collar, cuffs, plastrons and turnbacks that aren't on the Red Lancer uniform... their edges are plain. Both shabraques have the crowned eagle on the rear points points. Polish have the crowned "N" at the front. I feel for you having to remove the sheepskin :(
Double check the furniture on the chapkza... I think they are the same, but....
