This is a far as I have got, no more painting today. Finished the head and mitre cap which has been painted with damage.
I thought I would go with white hair as per one of the images, it just looked so good.

Very nice work Bob. I find that painting the hat always changes my view of the face - sort of frames it. IMO it wouldn't look so good with dark hair. White hair and mutton chops gives him that "veteran" look. Good stuff!

Thanks Phil
I couldn't agree more about the Mitre cap framing the face, looks a whole lot better. I thought he looked great with white hair.
Thanks again Phil and stay safe.

Very impressive painting Bob. The face is superb. Coming along very nicely.

I have this figure myself, so am watching with great interest.

Stay safe over there.
Cheers

Thank you Chris, as you know the level of detail is superb and cries out for careful painting. The information from Oleg is very good although I'm not sure of the colour of the blanket roll but will go with grey.
Stay safe and post your figure when you start.
Thanks again.

Hi Bob

That's coming out really nicely , the flesh looks really good and now your working on the helmet it's really coming to life

I can just imagine the headwear being a target for musket balls

Looking at the mitre I like the entry/exit holes ..a nice touch

Following with interest and tempted by the bust version I have seen

Happy benchtime

I can imagine the mitre cap becoming targets, look at the images provided by Chronos

Can you clarify what the errors are for others please

Nap

This picture shows the Russian infantry in 1805. It can't be used as information on the Russian infantry on 1812. But even in 1805, this picture contains a lot of errors. I'm sorry to waste my time on it. If you have questions about the Russian army during the Napoleonic wars, just make a topic and ask them. Russian friends will not refuse to help you !

This is as far as I have got now. The trousers are done just the boots to do, the pack straps and cross belts are nearly done and the blanket roll is finished.
Some better pictures will follow when I have finished.
I have added two tones of green although it's hard to see.

Hi Bob

Good update on this figure , coming along well

What colours you using for the Russian green ?

Thanks for sharing

Happy benchtime

Nap

Thanks Nap the Green is from scalecolor 'Black forrest green' with some black added and the highs are the same with some yellow green added

It may be my eyes or my monitor but I'm seeing dark blue. I can't see green for the life of me.

I await next pics to see if they make it easier for me to distinguish.
