Hi Carl,
Great to see you doing a Ned Kelly figure.
It looks great, but I hope you don't mind that I have a little nit pick.
I'm also working on a Ned Kelly bust at the moment.
Over the years I've looked closely and perhaps too forensically at the story of the Australian outlaw Ned Kelly.
What I can tell you about the figure you have is that Ned Kelly never wore a pistol holster belt whilst wearing armour, nor are the 'bullet dents' accurate.
The lower 'groin' armour plate was a simple rectangle attached by two leather straps and not simply stuck on as appears on this figure.
The armour also included shoulder caps which would be obvious under the coat.
And if you do show him without the helmet make sure you're the first person to portray him wearing the knitted woollen beanie(knitted by his sister)he wore under the helmet just as medieval knights did.
He's always been portrayed in film as simply shoving a helmet over his head.
When finally captured Ned Kelly was armed with a colt repeating rifle, one of his favourite and best weapons by that time.
Look I know I'm just being fussy and I apologise for being too critical of the figure accuracy.
It's great you've been attracted to the uniqueness of this sculpt and the work you've done on it so far is great.
I'll put up a couple of pics~

Carl,I think the signpost is essential to the story as Glenrowan is the town where Ned was shot and captured . As you know I bought this at Crewe and before painting I had a look at the website of the Melbourne museum where the armour is kept, interesting. Still, a good job pal
Cheers Tom

I get the sign. But would he really be nonchalantly leaning on it, prior to fighting for his life?
Carl.

The metals were random dots of white, burnt sienna, black, crimson and burnt umber. Over Games workshop gun metal. The with a stippling action merge and lift the paint, to leave some of the base-coat showing through. Leaving it in the recesses. Sounds complicated, but very easy really.:D
Carl.

Hiya Carl,

Once you'd pointed it out, the more I can see that this figure would not work with the original oversize sign, and you were right to get rid of it.

Cheers,
Jon.
