Hi Guys

just a shot of my latest box diorama, completed for this years Euro. This was a joint project with my friend Philip Donnelly.

Hope you like it.

Loved it mate, very well done indeed.Really captured the atmosphere of desperation and suprize. Awsome.

Well that's a better photo than I took, now I can show people what it really looks like!
Great work, enjoyed this a lot a t Euro.

Alex.

John, yet again you've ruined it for everyone else thinking of doing a box dio! ;)

Spot on again, I especially appreciate the changing light within the scene - an excellent touch. The planning & preparation gone into this have paid massive dividends.

Again though, top planning backed up by excellent execution. All the painting, weathering etc. You can almost smell the damp peeling the wallpaper off.
World class.

A well deserved Gold but I'm sorry - this is FAR too good and too original to win "Best of Show".

Try doing a generic Napoleonic scene next time, featuring shouting Frenchmen waving flags about.

Superb work and as BP says - World Class.

I saw this at Euro. It was far more realistic than the 'Best of Show'. I feel my efforts are most inadequate now!

I agree 100%.

The more I look at the BoS winner, the more contrived and ho-hum I think it is (although I nevertheless respect and admire the winning duo's undoubted serious talent as a sculpting/painting team).

You can bet that if every Euro attendee got to vote on BoS, the general modelling public would be at odds with the judges' choice every time.

I'd love to see a vote for "public's choice" (or whatever they call it) introduced at Euro, like I understand they have at some shows.

I've said this for years - it'd be fascinating to see. If any show has ever done this, or is thinking about it, I'd love to know.

John was kind enough to stop off at our stand on his way to the comp room at Euro and let us have a good look at it. The composition is fantastic and the forced perspective created by the german being a smaller scale the the GI works very well. The attention to detail such as the peeling paint and wall paper and the discarded toys just add to the atmosphere. Fantastic piece of work and much more evocative than the BoS.

Ei! I saw it at Folkestone and I agree with all comments that it's much better than the one who wins the BOS too!!
The idea, composition and realization is at other level than the BOS.
