Tommys War
A Fixture
Well, I've talked about it for long enough, time came to put words in to action.
So, I'm pleased to announce the release of a number of new figures and kits in the Tommy's War range.
Lets begin with:
TW54VC01 - L Battery Royal Horse Artillery and the action at Néry, 1st September 1914
I originally had the idea to produce this diorama 2 years ago. Inspired by the painting by Italian artist Fortunino Matania (where have I heard that recently?) I wanted to recreate the scene where the British 1 Cavalry Brigade were attacked by German forces. L Battery were attached to 1 Cavalry and despite terrible losses managed to keep one gun firing and repulse the German attack.
Three members of L Battery were awarded the Victoria Cross for this action: Captain Bradbury (pothumously), Battery Sergeant-Major Dorrell and Sergeant Nelson.
To recreate the scene, not only the 13 pounder QF gun had to be created, but the limber itself as I wanted to show the whole scene. From that I was able to brief Nino Pizzichemi to sculpt three gunners on the gun itself, plus one as a casualty (the injured gunner represents Gunner Darbyshire who was knocked unconscious by the same shell that mortally wounded Captain Bradbury).
The final effect is one that I am very proud to present:
Summary:
Code: TW54VC01
Title: L Battery Royal Horse Artillery and the action at Néry, 1st September 1914
Scale: 54mm (1/32 scale)
Material: resin (photo etch braces for two of the figures)
Kit includes: 13 pounder QF gun, carriage limber, 4 figures, full shells, empty shell cases, detailed instruction sheets (12 pages for gun, 8 pages for limber)
Sculptor (figures): Nino Pizzichemi
Box art: Günther Sternberg
Price: £120.00 (including taxes) - price may differ at different retailers
Included in each set is my latest 'News from the Front' newsletter which is 8 pages and includes detailed historical information on the battle and the three VC winners, plus more information on each of the guns.
I have to play tribute to everyone involved in the project, but a special thanks to Günther who has brought the scene to life with his tremendous box art, I am exceptionally grateful to him for this.
In addition to this scene, I decided to make the gun and limber available as individual kits. It was also possible to upgrade the 13 pounder to the 18 pounder, the most widely used British gun of the period, so there are three gun sets (all 54mm resin):
TW54E02 - Ordnance Quick Firing 13 pounder - £50.00
TW54E03 - Ordnance Quick Firing 18 pounder - £50.00
TW54E04 - Carriage Limber (suitable for both 13 and 18 pounder) - £30.00

A list of my international stockists is available on the same website.
I will also be at Telford for Scale Model World on the 9th and 10th November 2013 and will have the kits available to order on the day.
Thank you for looking, I hope you enjoy the images.
