Like the pose of the pirate, dough,
only to sad that they will increase there prices with 3% in decembre,
if now their casting will increase also with 3% to than thumbs up,
Maybe i'm just lucky but i've never had any problems with Andrea's figures especially their 54mm's and i've bought a few over the years.I like some of their figures for the innovative subjects and a change from the norm.
Brian
Casting issues asside, I like them both. I think the Pirate is particularly well done! And I know we all need something to bitch about, but a 3% increase is not that much. Good for them for being up front about the price increase as well. I got my email yesterday. Some companies would just raise the prices and go on without considering a notice to their customers. Food for thought.
Hi All
like others I've never had any problems and indeed have had some outstanding castings.
I like the pirate for what it is, now I'm no sailor but what's the wheel actually turning??

I'm no sailor either but I think that the wheel is connected to a pulley-type of arrangement that reels and unreels a cable that is attached to the ship's rudder. Turning the wheel one way winds the cable to pull the rudder to port, while turning/winding the opposite way turns it to starboard (there - I've just exhausted ALL of my nautical vocabulary !)
BTW I like the captain too - nice sense of movement and depiction of the unseen winds.
Brian
What I was really thrying to say rather clumsily is where is the pulley, ropes etc it just looks so flimsy. I suppose it's a design compromise call, make the wheel mech too chunky and you lose the figure
Cheers

I really like the Andrea kits and have not encountered any casting or fit problems. I am working on the new 'Son of the Morning Star' Custer kit and the casting and fit are great and top notch!
I have bought like seven pin up kits from Andrea and the few that I surprisingly found time to go ahead and put together did have fitting issues which I have to putty my way around. But that never put me off buying ever more Andrea kits. The design is simply too appealing.
I was however permanently discouraged to go for their busts. Burnt twice the bad way.
Well....I guess it's up to the individual. I PERSONALLY have been, over all, happy with all of the Andrea products I have bought over the years. A few not so good but, far and away, most have been very good to exceptional. Maybe I'm just one of the "Lucky Few"?
Back to the topic......Andrea's Latest Releases.......
I'm digging the Cowgirl. I don't paint female fantasy figures but if I did? I would probably start and end with Andrea's Pin Up series. The Pirate? Ehhhh, another pirate. Looks very well done but still......another pirate.
What has me excited is the paint set. I am ABSOUTELY crazy over the new Andrea paint sets! Now we have the color green! Hopefully someone from Andrea is reading this and the color yellow is next...hint, hint, hint
Showing my age perhaps but isn't the guy at the wheel a ripoff of a 1970's Flying Dutchman figure? I forget the original manufacturer and sculptor? Nice figure but scores a zero for originality.
I am with Brian, David and Derek (especially after the wonderfull Scottish Rugby teams last game) I have never had any problems with the Andrea 54mm figures. I am also looking forward to seeing/getting the green paint set.
