Hi, just found on the net these two upcoming releases from Pegaso , the Samurai is just amazing.The cossack is 75mm and the Samurai is 90mm

Yes the samurai is impressive as no doubt the price will be too. Bow is wrong size and shape (should be much longer with an asymmetrical grip about a third of the way up from the bottom) for a mounted archer of this period, which some fairly basic research would have confirmed.

After some recent flops, Pegaso look like they're back with a bang with these. They are obviously going to be their flagship releases for Euro.
That Samurai will take 6 months to paint. So much there.... God knows how much it'll weigh as well. I just think it'll cost a fortune, which I thnk might put it out of some modellers' reach.

The cossack is superb. I have to have it.

Superb releases indeed! I would love to have them both, but the Samurai in 90mm is very expensive... However the Cossack can enter my cabinet!
Can wait to see them painted!

Hi Bob, the first picture may be misleading, the fourth pic seems to show the asymetrical bow, the length may also be right - it's hard to judge from these angles

The Samurai looks spectacular, but I suspect that its price and sheer complexity will put most people off. The Cossack looks very nice, not entirely sure about the sculpting of the horse though. Something about it doesn't look quite right to me, but I might be talking cods.

Both are magnificent and I would have been interested in the Cossack, however the days of buying 'rearing horse' METAL pieces in 75mm and above and hoping they will defy gravity over the years are now gone! I bet both however are spectacular painted and displayed in the Pegaso cabinet at Euro.

Frigging amazing figures! There's a war out there to take home the mounted figure of the year 2014!

First we had Aralic, then Saint George and now comes these two! All wars should be like this



However I agree with others: If the Samurai Archer is intended to depict the Yabusame archery, then at first glance, the bow is notorious shorter than what it should be. But, more inputs please: Since Ogasawara Nagakiyo, so many centuries passed by, one never knows if the bow can belong to a specific clan or period.

Nevertheless if there's something to fix, then the fix is easy - write Andrea and pick a long Bow They have an excellent one!

Minamoto no yoshitsune is a favourite of mine, and this looks like an amazing rendition. I do agree that the bow looks wrong but out of everything else that would be the easiest piece to scratch build a replacement. Price is a put off as with all Pegaso 90mm's, historex sell the mounted 90's at £188.00. That would kill my Euro Militaire budget!

These look like unfinished prototypes to me ,look at the front leg off the cossack horse where it meets the body ,and the folds on the samurai trousers also looks unfinished and more like a chib mark as we say in Glasgow , but im sure this will all be addressed before release.

As Ron says they may be prototypes but they look great. At Stresa Pegaso had two 75mm mounted knights (one was definitely Teutonic) on display. Any news on these two anyone?

This is going to be my first visit to Euro since I emigrated in '99. With flights, hotel etc. this is already my most expensive and it's getting worse by the day as my wish list is growing exponentially despite going to Montrouge and Stresa already this year! Still hobbies should be expensive ;-)
