Dear Planeteers,
my newest project let my do things very different than usual. Normally, I paint in small section, e.g. the face, arms etc. This time I wanted to create a very dramatic effect and therefore I had to pay a lot more attention to the overall appearance of the figure. So instead of painting small sections, I had to go back and forth all the time, constantly changing and adjusting. Well, being forced out of your comfort zone is a good thing, I suppose.
I hope you like the result.
Happy painting!

Great painting and a great model. Did you make a conversion? I thought this bust has a tricorne and a rat on his shoulder?

Excellent rendition Sven. The lighting is subtle and not overdone. It would be easy to make a mess of this trying to provide too much illumination. Good work!

Hi Hekm,
you are right with both the tricorne and the rat. I did not like them too much and decided to leave them away. The shoulder needed a little filling and his head a bit resculpting, nothing too complicated.
Thank you for your kind comment.

Very well done Sven. Love the lighting and wish I could learn how to do it.

Hello,
it is actually not that complicated. It looks pretty bad in the beginning and you have to press on before everything come together. You should give it a try.
Thanks
Sven
