I attended a show many moons ago at Leeds armouries and was blown away by the whole event.Check out the armoury without a figure show and you'll see what i mean. There was also going to be jousting outside, but unfortunately the horses had the flu,but what a day that was.The BOS received £1000 prize money.
For so many years attending Euro, travelling by train, which was a round about trip of 1000 miles,i for one wouldn't bother attending a fledgling show in Folkstone, but Leeds is a different story.Fantastic venue and one that i would definately attend.
Euro at its peak was a figure show, first and foremost, but recently it was turning into an IPMS look alike.I can't be arsed looking at bits of plastic.

I can't be arsed looking at bits of plastic. Shit I was going to bring my tank on Sunday too

The reasons for Euro starting in the first place was that Lynn Sangster at Historex, and Ray Lamb at Poste Militaire didn't like having to travel to Manchester for Northern Militaire when it started in 1974, so they formed their own show on their Doorstep. With the intention of pulling in the BMSS London regulars, and the French. Although they were supported by some of the Northern Clubs, they got precious little recognition for doing it, and the price differences were very noticable then, in everything from accomodation, to the price of a pint!! Ever tried buying a bottle of water in Lees Clift Hall?? They charge Theatre Prices. Times move on and Model shows die, but for this one, I wont be shedding any tears. Ray

Brian, Ian and I put on that show at the Armouries, and I can tell you, the Overseas Companies were threatened that if they attended that show, they wouldn't be invited to Euro again.!! There was a Hate campaign spreading all sorts of rumours about Ian and myself, and doubting if we could afford to pay the BOS Prize. It was SO bad, I came out of the hobby for a few years, However, your right, it must be one of the best venues in the UK and is more cental for ALL of us than Folkestone ever was. Ray

Hi Guys

Just my two penny worth on a new show ...

For me it would be Leeds ..what a venue to have it at

IMO Folkstone has had its day as said its tired and rundown ( no disrespect to those living there! ) and by having it there again the past will stay with a new show

I would willing help in anyway possible with Leeds , I know like others only too well the work that goes into a show (Bugle Call - 27th November)

Brexit,President Trump and now Euro's gone. What a year this is turned out to be.The end of Euro for this old timer, is not the competition
or the traders, especially when you've got online shopping anywhere on the planet.
What i'll miss is meeting up with my old friends and meeting new ones, for shooting the breeze over a few beers and having a great laugh.
One of the most important weekends of the year has gone for me.

Agree with what Brian says ^^

For a few years now, the socialising aspect has been what I've enjoyed about Euro the most. Also helping out Steve K on his stand along with Gary & Keith - always enjoyable, and a great way to meet new people & put faces to names. But it's been very sad to see it decline as a show these past several years.

I agree with what others say that a new show in Folkestone would not be the way forward. Best to start afresh somewhere else.

I understand what you're saying mate (you old traditionalist :)) but this can be done at any show. It's simply about re-aligning your targets. Make another show the highlight of your year whether it be a new one or an already established one. Euro in its heyday (a good few years ago) couldn't be touched for a time but there are many other shows that have either left it behind or have the potential to do so.
P.S. Get yer passport oot !

Hi Guys well thank you for wanting it in Leeds, as some of you are aware we did book the show at leeds for 2017 but had to cancel the event. the reason was the trade from Europe pulled out as they blamed Brexit, and wanted Euro amongst other things.

I have all the info ready to Run but feel The armouries may not look too kindly at going for it again when we had all systems go then pulled out. as I mentioned I have contacted some of the UK traders to get a group together to try and rescue something. The armouries would be the best but a new team would have to do that negotiation.

We had a group of hotels that are a short walk from the venue and the City centre. you have everything at your finger tips plus a fantastic museum to look round. as for pubs/bars more than you can shake a stick at. the parking is extensive on site. the air, rail and Road links are great. but we shall have to see what we can come up with.

I will keep posting as we get to know more.

I think a great venue would be Norfolk, West Winch to be precise. We've got loads of space and great lighting, if you don't mind getting a bit wet occasionally......and I could walk there, but I probably won't (trying to cut down on my exercise and healthy eating). We've even got some paved roads and electricity, and some massive fields where you could park your airship :)

I know this doesn't apply to you Billy, but won't the webbed feet and 6 fingers put off the Europeans?

Just asking.
