Here's one for you two. Overall I'm pleased with the way this little guy came out though it was necessary to change a couple of things to facilitate eventual casting of the figure. The main change is that I put his left arm hanging down at his side rather than holding the papers edge as in the photo. I didn't like obscuring his clothing with an arm in front and thought that casting him as a single piece was going to be difficult enough-with the paper- without having his arm crossing his body.

If I were to have made this little guy for a scene I think I would have also made a stack of papers to sit next to him. Anyway, as you can see he is really very tiny and kid faces along with those of females really are the most difficult for me to make.

Perhaps in future I will make a 1/32nd scale version of this figure as well-because I really like the simplicity and innocence of the little guy-but not soon.

Hope you guys like him and will be looking forward to your comments.

Thank you Carl, that was fast I only just got the thing posted!

Guess I should have mentioned that the material is MS and GS, and that the scale is 1/48. Brass and resin armature, and all that usual stuff.

Regards,

Ray

Ray, very neat sculpting. I'm always a little suspicious when objects are placed in the background for comparison. If you're gifted enough to create such detail in so small a figure then it wouldn't be difficult to sculpt a 1 metre replica of a one cent coin.;):D Great little guy, always look forward to seeing your work.

Cheers Ken(y)

Ken,
Next time I'll sculpt a really large finger to put in the photo, this might help confirm your suspicions. lol Thanks for looking and sharing your suspicions!

Busted?

Thanks Gary,
Unfortunately it looks like Ken caught me out. Here's a photo with the 'actual' coin, I hope you like it.

Thanks Gary,
Thought I'd better come clean since Ken found me out.

Any idea who the pair in my other post might be or what film the referance is to? I really thought that the Ret Butler clue was a give away for the male figure at least. Sorry the resemblance of the figures is too far from the real people to use as clues.

Ray

Tim,
Thank you I'm glad you like it.

Dan,
'TOO COOL!!!!'-only because of you and Ken, your picture and Ken's wonderful figure were all of my inspiration, thanks for that. You wouldn't have any more treasures like it hidden away somewhere would you?

Thanks Dan, I appriciate it.

Ray

Treasures are entirely in the eye of the beholder in such cases, Ray. What is one person's photo or illustration or whatever that speaks to them and moves their heart doesn't even register for others.

I very much like the illustrations of Fortunio Matania, because his work so often talks to me.
Don't know for certain, but I think Mike Good used the illustration of the arrogant German officer as reference for a figure that is now OOP.

Do any of these talk to you, Ray?

All the best,
Dan

Ray - love this little piece - bring back memories of standing on a corner selling the local afternoon edition every afternoon in the early 70's

Dan,
Those are treasures for sure, too bad I am not free to work from any of them. Christmas is a little expensive this year and the kids still need to eat, so all my attention is on making figures that I already have a market for. I've promised myself to oneday do some figures just for the fun of it, in a scale I actually like, but guess it will have to wait until the kids get their hands out of my pockets. This does happen eventually doesn't it?

Thanks Ian,
Where's the Bear paper boy?-I didn't see him in the last pics you sent me. Sorry packet still not on the way, I haven't done a thing towards casting the bits or putting the package together. Sorry about that, soon I promise.

Ray - I certainly understand the need for a paycheck to feed the family, believe me. Raised three kids with my sweet and understanding wife. And they turned out pretty good in spite of us. :)

I encourage you to every so often give yourself the time to do something just for yourself. You earned it, Dad.

All the best,
Dan

Dan,
Thanks for the encouragement I'll get something of my own done in time I'm sure. In the mean time making figures for others keeps me off the street and keeps the kids in victuals.
