While work is slowly coming to a close on the jacket sleeves I decided to start highlander #2's haversack/knapsack.

I start by scoring the area where the bag goes to give the putty something to hang onto.

I then mix up some Aves putty and place it on the back in roughly the shape of the knapsack. One the putty is applied the arm is placed on the figure to insure the arm and putty are not making contact.

The putty is then trimmed up into the final shape of the bag keeping in mind that the final shape should look like there are objects inside of it.

The knapsack with folds worked in. I will do a little more once the putty is dry to make it looks like there are items inside the bag. the trick is to "suggest" the shape of objects like plates, utensils, rations etc.

Guy, The prints make it easier to identify pieces that I've sculpted.

Guy, Thought you'd like it.

Barry, Thanks. I'm happy that my stuff helps to interest you in sculpting your own pieces, you're doing a great job on that bust.

Anders, Thanks buddy, they're finally starting to really come together.~Gary

Another shot of the figures together. Both figures now have their knapsack/haversacks complete except for the buckles and straps shown in Griffing's painting. All of the arms are complete minus the cuffs except for Highlander #1's left arm.

Aother view of the figures. The left half of Highlander #1's jacket will be finished once I build 2 bayonets and scabbards.
