How metallic and how red?

I have been engaged in massive experiements with different metallic pigments and paint combo's.

I have had some success adding humbrol gold to WN oils like burnt sienna and raw umber.

Possible that you can add printers ink to an oil base with additional drying agent.

May be try these with Cad Red or WN Bright Red?

Very interesting question. I'd like to see what others come up with too!

I have heard about a metallic pigment they use to paint the speculum in the wings on duck decoys. There is a blue-violet and a green, perhaps there is a red one too? The trick is to add a bit of this pigment to your paint, and it gives the effect of a birds feather with a metallic gloss.

Try one of the decoy carving material suppliers.

That is an interesting suggestion from Johan and I'll have to look in to that one myself.

Winsor Newton used to have a line of metallic oils but they are not listed on their site any longer nor are they carried at my local art supply stores.

What about adding red oil paint to silver printers ink? It would help to know the application.
