For some who might be interested in the dirt I'm applying to my poor Friedrich, some pictures of the basework in progress again.
Honestly, I must confess it's great fun thinking about all the spots that possibly could be mudded.
I enhanced some on his knees, and I imagined Friedrich somewhere else in the mud where he had been leaning on his elbows.

Added some puddles of mud using transparant gloss which I also used to enhance the deep colors of the trunk.

In order to make the difference I wil also turn the magazine into a slightly different color compared to the mp. The magazines are less damaged than the mp when resting in their pouches.

A sling needs to be produced which I will provide by using thermoclay instead of foils, regarding the more lifelike bending and thickness of the belt, that sometimes appears to be rounded sideways.

In the end some subtile highlights will be added on top of the patterns.

How gratifying this must be, René

I've gotten rather late into this thread, so I went back to page one and
looked at all your explanations and the member comments, and I studied
each of the photographs. That's quite a camera you have, René and you
certainly know how to use it. Excellent lighting and composition.

How gratifying it must be to have this kind of talent and intelligence. The
basic principals of Art are so obvious in each of your photographs. Your
painting of the face and figure is first rate. And I just love the base work.

Congratulations on a beautiful presentation. Whoa, Nellie. . . (y)(y)

proportions, Bert. Staying tuned anatomicly when working in scale.
It's my goal to unleash some figures, not too restricted regarding equipment and clothing but depicted with a certainty of probability :)

each figure has to be better than previous, each time I pick up little things.
Also the first time I manipulated a piece of thermoclay into some hands.
Better start with them when energylevel is at high.

Rick,

I am flattered, really...
My camera is an outdated one, but very functional, the Fujifilm S3000.
Composition is something I try to integrate in designing the first concept.
A steady hand, some altering in my dark/lightsettings, macrolens and taking shoots outside are usefull in representing actual detail and colors.

Completion is in my opinion in the design itself, the basework deserves as much attention as what it will be presenting.
By all means, it was done by the use of simple tools. Using wrapped foil inside the shape I used to mould the socket.
The roots are undisposable to create extra drama but also for stressing different angles that give a little more tension. I collect them with love when visiting the woods or track them down in the dunes at sea where I happen to live.

regards,

René
