I have a a comprehension question. To my knowledge is outlining unusual, especially by busts and figures off 54mm. However Outlining to provide an opportunity to improve the contrast and to accentuate on figures below 54mm. Above and in larger scale, Outlining will more disturb as enhance the contrasts.
Have I misunderstood this or is this a vulgar error? I would be happy when I became enlightenment from you. Thanks.

My friend each painter has his own practics. Usually in busts i make outlinning and definitions by darker linnning almost at the end of painting. But since this is a female bust i didnt wanted the outlinning to be hard and obvious , so i had to do it in advance , to let it be partially covered by the following layers of painting. Furthermost the kind of objects that she is wearing as the heavy jewlerry are more 3d than tha usual clothing and they would anyway need outlining to show out and get some depth . More dark color will be used inside the intrique pattern of this jewelerry to make it stnad out . I hope i gave you my ancle of optics regarding the use of this primary outlinning. But then again talking for painting anything can be done by the painters order. I could ouline later, i just decided to do it in advance ...

Best regards

Thanks Costas for you explanations. That's the great advantage of this forum, to discover other techniques and to read them. To date, the practice of this technique on busts was unknown to me and I´m to be anxious to further progress.

Some progress !
After beeing away for few days i could move on a bit .

I finished basic flesh work with acrylics and i left it over to dry so i will work with oils over this .

meanwhile i blocked the jeawlery areas with a mix of Bronze and glossy black .

I also basecoated the hair with a mix of black , chocolate brown and some english uniform to get an itermediate tone that i could shade with black and highlight with some flesh in the base mix.

So here we are

Moving on with this bust and i fall in love with it more and more .
i used some Tamiya smoke clear varnish to enhance the jewelry . Then i painted all pearls with thicj paint from Turnet (pearl white) making 3 individuall drop passes for every pearl to enhance the spherical scheme and the 3d feeling .

I have basecoated the cloth with a turcoise mix of light turcoise and blue green and will further work on it with oils .

Flesh has been completed with oils flesh tint, white , brown madder alizarin, indian yellow, mars red, venetian red .
