Not the best light but here he is end of day 1.

I had forgotten how small a 90mm figure is…just marginally bigger than a 75.

Hi Colin

Thanks for sharing the fleshwork pictures coming together nicely there

This is going to be another fine version , all credit to you for painting so many versions

What’s kept you going when painting so many ?......perhaps his story , the uniform ?

Enjoy the next session

Happy benchtime

Why obsessed with this subject?

The uniform basically sums up the romance and style of the Napoleonic cavalry officer. The association with “The Duellists.” His interesting personality…he was likely a complete jerk, a show off and a bully. But unlike most bullies, he was brave enough having proved himself in multiple battles. And Gros’ portrait is a masterpiece IMO.

Paint change. I find Scale Color tube acrylics build up and become grainy after too many layers on a small figure. So I flipped to the Scale 75 flesh set and Liquitex Pro. Still layering in inks.

Looks good and an interesting point re the tube paints, so far I only have one everything else is in dropper bottles, I think I'll stick to them.

Cheers Simon
Don’t let me put you off them. They are great paints, particularly for larger figs and busts.

Face still needs more high highlights. Dolman base done. Starting the dreaded gold thread embroidery.
