Adrian,
I had wondered, every now and then, what became of your Roman project. Now I know.
You are a brave man (and very able modeller) to tackle those folds, but the result is very convincing. And I agree with Martin: a lovely face and a perfect pose.

I do look forward to the rest of the journey.
Cheers
Karl

Hi All,

It's been a long while since I have posted my work. Here's an update on a 54mm project I have been working on over the past few years. Yes, I am a very slow modeller...

What you see is the 'groundwork' for a civilian lady figure that will be sitting on the bench, sampling roses. A bunch of potted flowers will complete the scene.

I am very happy to have reached this stage, as all the detail painting nearly made me give up the entire hobby altogether!

Regards,
Adrian

Love the panatela roof

Adrian mate you surely wasted no time because, judging by the result, you have trained yourself to be a sculptor and quite a consumate one too IMHO.I loved your Garden project as it was but now, with this lady, you are going to make it infinitely more interesting.

Oda.

Well, how time flies. Already 2.5 years ago that I finished the base and started on the figure.
Anyway, the plan to convert the figure was not good enough. It was an old Elisena figure of a seated roman lady, but it turned out to be historically inaccurate and somewhat dated and ‘cluncky’. So I started the brave plan to sculpt my very own figure! How hard can it be...?
Really, really hard - I realise that after my own recent conversion efforts. Not something I would attempt. But you did a superb job, the draping of the fabric looks really good! Very much looking forward to seeing more progress on this. Keep up the good work!!

Thank you for your reply and likes!

Happy to post an update so soon. Just finished the bottom part of the sculpt: sandals and lower part of the dress (tunica).
On the to-do list are now the arms, remaining parts of the ‘overdress’ (palla) and she needs a roman hair style.

In parallel I’m working on potted plants, will give an update soon.

Cheers,
Adrian

Very nice work Adrian.
The drapery on the lady looks spot on.
I look forward to seeing her placed within that superb setting you created a while back.

Cheers,
Andrew
