I'd be very surprised if a club of Les Feles standing would knowingly invite a Recaster to trade at their home show.
At a recent european show I noticed a number of busts I knew under another company name. It turned out that after a few questions the seller was a legitimate partner business with the original Czech bust manufacturer.
However the same trader had loads of busts for sale and these had used the original heads from Andrea, Young and Pegaso busts which they then 're-equiped' for example the face of Andreas 'After the Battle' kitted out as a WW1 piece.
When you look at the number of traders expected at Ransart it must be incredibly difficult to 'police'

Gaudin, please don't plead the innocent, you know I have been the brunt of your tongue in cheek comment and sarcasm, which is fine but it's all got a bit frigging boring. And why the f**k should I go anywhere. As for you going, well that is also your choice. If I was to make the decision it would be all out not to occasionally return to receive accolades. Now do me a favour and find someone else to direct your boredom too.

Read into it what you like, but from my perspective you were not a butt for my joke. I have been always sympathetic to your argument and tried to be supportive where I could.

I can tell you though, from observation, that you take a lot of things very personally, with and without reason.

Also, at no point I suggested you should go anywhere. But you do what you want, my friend .

Great guys! Please, lower your weaponry - once again don't let outside thieves be the reason for enmity here on this community. Skirmish among members will just be another victory for the counterfeiters.

I know the subject is hot and painful, but Graham, please - target your business, not bush fires - and release as soon as possible the French Cuirassier stealing the flag :) Mail me anytime - on day one it will be mine

Ian Hanratty of 'Friendship Models' had a situation a couple of years back where some of his figure were recast and being sold at a figure show in Europe, once alerted I believe the show organisers closed the guy down and threw him out.
I think this situation is going to become more common as the re casters grow more confident with the increasing number of people buying their wares.

This topic should be pinned!!!

I saw just now on ebay an american seller with this for sale:

(Steve, Carl: I placed the link before someone would not believe!)

What a ****** is this?!? The original Andrea miniature is made of white metal! This thing just looks like melted resin!

FUNNY thing - I sent the pirate in Hungary an email on Ebay asking if his offerings were originals or cheap pirated stuff - NEVER received a response!! Now that I see he is posting again - I tried to send another email But, it won't go through!! He must have blocked me!! Oh NO what will I ever do??LOL I would encourage the membership and supporters to bombard him with question about his products!! Dave

I tell you this , Polish recasters are now't compared to the damage the Poles have done to the building industry. and we brits are to blame for employing them and driving down tradesmen's rates .
Everywhere in this country there is an infiltration from banking to roadsweepers destroying our economy .
At times when I quote for a job I get told the Poles will do it for half the price , my reply is the Pikeys will do it for half as much again : better still do it your bloody self .

I know all tolerance has gone and it's time to retire

Could'nt agree more mate, been involved in finishing trades since 71 and there's no goverment body to protect good tradesmen but when the work falls apart leave them a business card.

For the recasters, there are tons of merchandise coming into the country that has been copied but you don't get the quality...I buy off the manufacturers because what I'm getting is an excellent product and the whoever sculpted deserves his monies for the time it must take to complete a fine piece of work.

Also copy right issues must exist with an original figure/bust that has been copied, it does if a copy a designers clothes etc come on the market.

I predicted this just about eight months ago, great people: eBay opening such a wide gate would generate a parallel market!
In this short period of time, we passed from one single recaster to a ton of them: From one in Hungary (at least the first one I spotted) now we have at least two in Poland, one in the UK, one in Russia, one in Thailand, one in the USA and another in Italy... And furthermore, busts from Young and Nuts released just three four weeks ago are being marketed by these people. I saw similar events in other markets and the outcome is devastating to original owners.
What is even more annoying is that these people are using highly visible names to generate more searches. Since they do nothing in creativity to develop new products ... all available time can be invested in marketing! Same happened in every damn place my memories can remember.
I spotted a counterfeit of a Steve Kirtley miniature just early this morning. Another gem I have ... and what a $#%&$# to see it marketed on eBay as a counterfeit!

Hi

Just checked on 3 of my european recasters....138 positive feedback between the 3 of them. One person even says excellent recasts !!!!

The sale of recasts is increasing it would seam....long live the future of our hobby.

Stuart

Too true darren.

I must admit the trend seams to be growing unfortunately....i think we are heading for uncertain times. Survival of the fittest !!

From a customer loyalty aspect Stu....IMHO...that won't change....what is in danger is the market of newcomers to the hobby...who are ill informed as to what they are buying...this would appear to be the area the re-casters are attacking.
I may only buy a few bits....but rest assured...from a personal perspective....I for one know where I would rather my money went ;)

Regards

I think we are sensitive to this issue as our mates are getting hurt and health of the hobby is at risk. I have downloaded music and youtube films that were copyright and which I have not paid for and I expect everyone reading this has as well. So I can't cast the first stone as its the same issue, but focused towards another medium. While those who download entertainment product or who buy counterfeit sports jerseys may tell themselves that they are not really hurting mega corporations that own the copyrights and trademarks, the issue is identical. Is theft from a millionaire better than theft from someone who is only making ends meet? Only if you are Robin Hood IMO.
