Dear friends,
Another figure finished. It was in my shelf semi-finished for a long time. I finally found the time to finish it. I used the Panzer Aces system for the face (Base, Highlight and Shadows), Vallejo Model Color for the leather jacket and the base and Andrea Field Grey for the uniform. I used Citadel metallics and printers' ink for the medals and a little Burnt Umber oil for the gaiters. The sculpting was excellent and it was really a pleasure to paint. I hope that you like it.

Excellent painting Stelios and the Field Grey in particular is especially well done. I have this figure in the Grey Army and I have to say I am not too sure it (really) looks much like MVR. Rather, as sculpted, it looks more like a young Herman Goering?
Cheers!

Hi Stelios!
Very nice!
I also think you done very well with the Field Grey.
Do you mind sharing the "recipe" for highlights and shadows?
Best regards,
Krister

I have to agree with your Herman Goering comment Gary. I've got this figure in my stash and the casting and detail is lovely but nothing like MVR. .....Still a nice figure of a WW1 German pilot though and Stelios has made a good job of the painting.

Richard.

Glad it's not just me who thinks so Richard. I'm sure my own figure will find a generic use alongside one of my 1/32 "Wingnuts" kits in the fullness of time.........just not alongside anything with MVR's livery and markings though!
Regards.

Hello friends,
Sorry for so late answer but for some reason I did not receive notifications in my email and I have just seen your encouranging words. Thank you all.

Krister:
I found that Andrea Old Fieldgrey (red cup) was very good for WWI Austrian Uhlan uniforms. So I start using a base mixture of Field Grey + spec Flat Black. I start the highlights using Field Grey and adding Base Flesh (Vallejo Panzer Aces) to my taste. I tried to pass a lot of successive very diluted mixtures (with distilled water, I noticed that by using this water the satin finish is almost gone). For the shadows, as the dark colors are "writing" very strong, I diluted the Field Grey + Flat Black + a dot of Base Flesh with Glaze Medium and a little water. And to avoid the marks I always wet a little the surfaces before paint with the shadows. Try it, is easier and if you are not satisfied you can remove it if you act quickly. For High High lights...non as you will end with a "silvering" uniform. I hope that this helps.

All the Best
