Hi Planeteers,
I've just watched the movie Master & Commander again tonight, and I owe an apology to Mr Lee Sang Eon, who painted the box art version of this bust for Young Miniatures.
The box art painting is 100% accurate to the Captain's costume worn in the movie, specifcally the first scenes of the movie when the HMS Surprise is engaged by the French privateer Acheron.
The Captain's hat worn by Russell Crowe in these scenes has no gold trim around the brim, nor does the jacket have any gold trim on the collar or lapels.
Sorry Mr Lee, I hope you were not offended by my comments. I will do my research better before making critical comments of your excellent work.
I now intend to repaint those inaccurate elements of my bust, and will also repaint the braiding on the lapels, which is black not gold.
Planeters can be absolutely confident that the box art painting of this magnificent bust is completely accurate to the movie. Whether the movie is completely 100% historically accurate is another matter entirely, but I do hope Mr Lee will accept my apology for questioning the accuracy of his work.
