Hi Peter

I would be very happy with the painting on this where it is at the moment ....the gourd looks great , good painting bringing out the details

The hat works well , interesting you weren't keen on the textured version .....I like the knocks and dents and rosette

Good days benchtime

Thanks for update

Happy benchtime

Morning Peter

A good day with the paints and some very nifty scratchery on the hat too.

Well improvised with the brim and rosette.

The gourd looks good, it must have been quite a weight to carry around in battle!

Looks like another fun day for you, this one could make a full week of painting?

It certainly looks like being box art quality, well done.

I have only just noticed the fancy waistcoat, quite a dandy for a youngster

Have another good day with the accessories and that veggie bag

Regards

Graham - Thank you.

Paul - Thanks also.

Nap - I felt that the straw hat made the whole head too light in tone compared to the darker colours I've used on the clothing. Not sure I'd have changed it in retrospect - a simple tar-coated finish would have been an easier way to darken the colour.

Steve - Our lad is definitely not a peasant - more likely a member of the local squirearchy, going on the quality of his clothes and hunting equipment. I agree that the gourd must have weighed a tonne when full, and with all that other equipment he would have been somewhat weighed down. Onto the sixth day now, which is outrageous; it looks like this one is going to take at least a week in total - a record for me.

Hi Tim - I'm still working at the same rate, it's just that this is a complicated figure. Glad you like him so far.

Dagger, pistol, bugle and bag of fruit:

The bugle was painted with mixes of Vallejo Bronze, Old Gold and Gold over matt black. I decided to make the fruit a bag of oranges, as we are in Spain after all. It's getting there.

Hi Peter

Thanks for another good update , like the oranges and the work on the weapons and the bugle

Everytime I look at the piece it just looks alive ...so good to see your painting on him

Look forward to the next post

Happy benchtime

Morning Peter

Just keeps getting better and better with each update

And keeping you busy too.

Looks like the finish line is in sight with hands, gun and hobby horse left to do.

You'll need a breather after this masterpiece.

Another cold snap on the way?

Winter isn't quite finished with some google news talking about a white Easter?

Chocolate eggs only, hopefully LOL

Have a good day with the paints

Regards

Nap - Just lovely to work on.

Steve - A cold start here already; back on with the long-johns (too much information?).
The hobbyhorse next, and, depending on how that goes perhaps the hands, gun and finish. I must say that this one does seem to be challenging my levels of stamina - the slightly smaller scale and extra-fine detail need a lot of concentrated effort. I think back to 200mm for the next one.

Hi Peter

Interesting way to paint ..just Longjohns ...lol

The scale is 1/12th and as you say a challenging piece , one thing Hugo will be very happy to see this version

Have a good day

Happy benchtime

This is just beautiful Peter. The best thing I have seen in a long time. The quality of painting is superb and picking out the best bits is impossible as it is all best bits.
