Anyone who's been watching this thread for a while will probably know my view of politicians in general, but in the case of our glorious western democratic statesmen, (insert rude noise here), making threats against Vladimir Putin,,,
it's like John Inman attacking George Forman with a feather duster...
Here endeth the rant, Gary.

.....Did you just post that on a public forum ?.........

The last time we made idle threats similar to that we got embroiled in the second world war " you better get out of Poland or else"
There was a similar response ; Silence o_O

INTERMISSION
There was an Englishman an Irishman and a Welshman
It used to be a Scotsman but he wanted to go it alone.

In a bomb shelter in London during the war, there were two Welshmen, two Scots, and two Englishmen. After an hour, the Welshmen were singing sad songs, the Scots were sharing a wee dram, and the Englishmen were sitting bolt upright waiting to be introduced! Oh well!!!
How about some controversy? If we lose Scotland, cen we nick Brittany as a consolation prize???

England has always been trying to steel Brittany ,hence the name ; surprised the French haven't changed it to something else or have they !

Two points Ron,
1 The French wouldn't dare, the Bretons wouldn't stand for it, and 2 I wouldn't know anyway as I can't speak French!
Best wishes, Gary.

For those of you who obviously share my glowing respect for our glorious leaders, I wish to point out my post, The
Politicians Progress (further down on this forum).
Best wishes, Gary.

Best quote ever from the floor of the house (Parliament) Dennis Skinner stood and asked Cameron " How do you solve a problem like Maria". He was refering of course to Maria Miller who has just resigned (like being sacked but you keep your pension). Seems I and everyone else was buying a "second house" for he parents. Started she owed £90,000 it came out that she owed £46,000 but Tory MPs got it down to £5,500. She agreed to pay that but her appology in the house didnt mention her vast theiving adventure.
And it seems Cameron does not understand why the people of the UK hate politicians!
If he is stuck I could tell him.

Sorry Steve, my mistake, I think there are at least 4 labour amongst the Committee. I sometimes get confused I am just getting used to blaming Camerons team for everything thats wrong in Parliament.
An easy mistake to make.

Seeing as I will always have a piece of my heart firmly planted in Scotland, I've been reading this thread for a while now.
I don't know if this story made much of an impact on your side of the Atlantic, but many of you might be aware, Canada has it's own struggles with dual identity (well, identity in general really) vis a vis Quebec. This past week the good people of Quebec (or les bonnes gens de Québec) had a provincial election which saw their nationalist party soundly defeated. I'm attaching a link to the CBC news political panel talking about what it all means. I wonder what the similarities might be, if any, with the whole referendum debate in Scotland? http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/quebec-election-2014-is-sovereignty-dead-1.2601963
