Why name it Skiptracer? A skiptracer is very much a 20th and 21st C. concept, isn't it?

I was thinking the same thing. I think "Bounty Hunter" would be more appropriate. Possibly the choice is the result of using a translating program, and no program can yet beat a human at translating from one language to another. Not yet.

Prost!

Thank you, friends!
This is not a sales job. But if you contact me at [email protected] , we can talk about it))
I took the name of the Russian-language articles on Wikipedia, where "skiptraser" - variant "Bounty Hunter"
I gave the original quote from the wiki.
Maybe I'm wrong, calling the figure that way, but for those who do not know English, it sounds nice)))))

Well, with Wikipedia in any language, good advice to keep in mind is, "Consider the source", because just about anyone can edit an article ;)

The most common meaning of "skip tracer" is a person who tracks down people who have fled, or "skipped town", particularly to collect a debt. But your figure really does evoke the legendary bounty hunters of the old American West, who tracked down and captured wanted criminals, to collect bounties paid for their capture. "Bounty Hunter" is probably better recognized, both in the English-speaking world as well as without.

I was a skip tracer, in my very first job out of college, and it was nowhere near as glamorous--or dangerous-as bounty-hunting. I sat in a call center and called people who had run up credit card debts, and asked them to pay my client next. It was interesting, for a while, and there were colorful characters among both the debtors and my colleagues. But I could stand it for only about a year, by which time I saved enough to go to grad school for a while.

So, "Bounty Hunter" would be a lot cooler.

Prost!
